ELIZABETH'S POV~

Soon, my vision started to clear up. I heard the swish swish of the mop against the tiled floor. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion at the sight of a janitor mopping something red from the surface.

"What is that?" I questioned, my voice all croaky and weak. The janitor looked up at me and gave me a warm smile.

"If you really want to know, it's blood."

"Where did it come from?" I asked, not knowing if I really wanted the answer. My nose scrunched up in disgust as I inhaled the metallic scent.

"Well, that boyfriend of yours caused quite a commotion today. He almost knocked your friend unconscious." She explained.

"Boyfriend? What boyfriend?"

"You know, the blonde one? The nurses came into the room and saw blood everywhere and two boys looking like they wanted to kill each other. They were throwing punches and everything! Luckily, some staff members pulled them apart." She continued, "I heard your friend was taken to the emergency room and your boyfriend only got a busted lip."

I felt myself grow paler, my heart rate rising. "Do you know where the blon- I mean my boyfriend is?"

"Yeah, he got taken to the clinic. They needed to patch him up." She responded, glancing down at her pager. "Oh! Looks like I have to clean up another room. Bye miss." With that, she took all her cleaning supplies and left, leaving a lemon-like scent behind.

I began to think about what Kyle said about Trevor when the doctor walked inside the room, followed by Niall. The janitor was right. His lip was busted and his hair was disheveled, but other than that he looked normal.

How did that happen?

"Hello, Miss Martin. I'm sorry to say this, but you have a minor case of epilepsy. This is also the reason you're here right now. You see, your body is sensitive to excessive emotions, like stress and shock. Your body is having such a hard time coping with the extreme, it just shuts down, causing you to faint. In a way, epilepsy is another lifeline for your body to deal with stress." He explained as he checked my vitals and the heart monitor.

"You need to avoid getting overly stressed or you will pass out again. Or worse, you can have seizures. I told your boyfriend that you need to have plenty of bedrest for the next couple of days, stress free as much as possible. Also, we need to keep you here overnight for observation. That's all, so I guess I'll leave you two to it." The doctor left right after that, muttering to himself about seeing other patients. Before I could talk to Niall about what happened, a nurse came in carrying a tray of food.

"Alright dear! It's six o 'clock and time for dinner! The doctor says you have to finish most of the meal to help you get better." She told me as if I was a child. The nurse set up my feeding tray and handed me a sanitizing wipe. "If you need anything, you can ring that buzzer on the side of your bed or your boyfriend can go and get me". Shooting me a smile, she closed the door, leaving the room.

The room was filled with awkward silence, as Niall took the wipe and began sanitizing my hands. I looked down, not wanting to look at his damaged lips or piercing gaze.

"I can do it myself...." I said softly, trying to wiggle my hands out of his grasp.

"Its okay. I'm already done." He said. When he saw I was avoiding eye contact with him, he gently held my chin in his right hand, making me look up at him. "Hey... Whats wrong?" His blue eyes flashed with worry.

I sighed, "Niall what happened to your lip? And don't try lying to me about it. Tell me everything..please." His hand fell away from my chin.

Niall bit his lip, unsure if he should tell me about the cause of his injury. Finally, after a few minutes of silence, he decided to explain to me what happened. "I got in a fight.....with your friend Kyle... He told me he bumped into you outside of Starbucks and you guys started talking.. Then, you just fainted after he told you about Trevor."
