Shoutout to my friend Ivan (vanishshi) on Tumblr for the adorable picture above. Ok carry on.
Scott sighed and turned over again, before opening his eyes. His eyes darted over to the window.
He dragged himself out of bed and padded over to the window.
A grin formed on his face at the falling snowflakes that coated the ground. He'd been in LA so long that he wasn't used to seeing snow anymore.
Oh, the perks of touring the country around Christmas time.
He glanced out the window at the tour bus that was parked in the parking lot, getting buried underneath the snow.
Scott glanced down the road, and his eyes instantly lit up.
U-CUT Christmas Tree Farm.
Okay, maybe his random nighttime ideas weren't always the best, but this sounded like a great idea at the time.
But of course, he couldn't go alone.
He turned around quickly, looking towards Mitch who was fast asleep. As soon as the blond opened his mouth to wake up his friend, his own hands flew up and covered his mouth before he got himself killed.
He dropped his hands before grabbing his boots and coat, and slipping out of the hotel room.
He went down the hallway to the next room.
He was cutting down a tree. Who better to bring along than a lumberjack?
Well, close enough to a lumberjack at least.
He wanted to knock on the door, but he didn't want to disturb Kevin.
Instead, he retrieved his phone and called Avi. He was probably listening to music, so his headphones would be in.
Hopefully.
He waited patiently until the older man answered.
"What could you possibly need at this time?" Avi inquired, tiredly.
"Come get a Christmas tree with me...for the tour bus," Scott ordered bluntly.
A brief silence passed.
"What?"
"Come. Get. A. Christmas tree," Scott repeated.
Scott was honestly surprised when the door opened a few minutes later. Avi had his coat on, and his hair down, ready to go.
"Come on," he ordered simply before walking past the taller man.
Scott's eyebrows furrowed together as he watched Avi scurry down the hallway to the elevator.
Avi stopped and rose his eyebrows at Scott, "Are we getting a Christmas tree or not?"
Scott snapped out of his daze before following him. "I thought you'd protest a little more," he noted as the elevator doors opened.
Avi shrugged as they stepped forward into the elevator. "Well, you're usually really damn persistent, so I just saved myself the struggle. And besides, I used to love getting a Christmas tree every year with my dad," he explained.
Scott smirked as he pressed the lobby button, "Does that make me your dad?"
Avi rolled his eyes playfully, but didn't respond.
"So, it's not that far. It's just down the road," Scott pointed out as they exited the hotel.
Avi sighed, "Why do I let you talk me into these things?" He questioned as he headed towards the sidewalk.
Scott smiled proudly and followed as he shoved his hands into his pockets.
"Are they even open?" Avi quizzed as they approached the gate.
"We sure are," a voice bellowed, startling both of them.
After flinching, they both looked at the end of the gate where a large man stood. He was wearing a red flannel, and he had a long white beard.
"Oh my god," Avi muttered before chuckling softly.
"Come on in boys," the man stated before opening the gate, "The name's Nick."
Of course it is, Scott thought to himself.
"You can use one of those axes right over there. Go out and pick your tree, then come back over to me and pay for it," Nick explained.
"Okay, great, thank you," Scott stated politely and waited as Avi retrieved an ax, and they began walking down the aisles of trees.
"Ugh, I miss LA. It's so freaking cold," Avi complained as they walked.
Scott playfully mocked him, laughing at the inevitable return of Superfrown.
They walked in silence for a while, surveying each tree.
"How about this one?" Scott offered.
Avi glanced at it and shook his head, "No," he stated simply before continuing forward.
Scott pouted and followed. He stopped in front of another one, "How about this one?" He suggested.
Just like a few minutes earlier, Avi shook his head and continued forward.
This happened 4 more times before Scott rolled his eyes in annoyance, "Why are you so picky?" He whined.
"We need to find the perfect tree," Avi declared.
Scott huffed, "And what is the perfect tree?" He questioned impatiently.
Avi glanced up at him briefly, before shrugging and looking at the snow. "I don't know, but I feel like the perfect tree would be...tall...it would probably a nice-looking tree. I feel like the perfect tree would stand out among all of the other trees," he explained sheepishly. He looked up at Scott who was pondering his words.
Scott smiled, making Avi smile as well. He was surprised that it didn't completely go over his he--
"How about this one?" Scott asked eagerly before striding to the tree a few feet in front of them.
Avi's smile fell as he rolled his eyes. He spoke too soon. "Ok, we'll get that one. First, I need to warm up my hands," he declared before setting the ax down, and going to rub his hands together.
"I got you," Scott blurted out eagerly before wrapping each of his warm hands around Avi's, taking him by surprise.
Avi looked up at him with wide eyes for a moment.
Scott smiled as his blue eyes locked with the latter's green eyes. His smile fell for a moment and looked at their hands. His heart beat quickly as he assessed the situation.
"See, all better," he murmured before dropping Avi's hands.
"Yup," Avi agreed awkwardly before picking up the ax.
Not too long later, they cut down the tree, before going and paying for it. They dragged it back to the hotel, before sitting it up on the tour bus.
"Well, that'll be a pleasant surprise when we leave in the morning," Avi noted as they smiled proudly at their work.
"You're right," Scott agreed before looking towards Avi, "Are your hands still cold? I'll hold one of them on the way back into the hotel if you want," he offered before grinning sheepishly.
Avi chuckled, "I'd like that."
