Paige and I walked across the street to a blue shingled house that had a broken down chipped white painted fence around the perimeter. Paige and I walked side by side, I put my hand out to stop her. "What?" She said. "Do you hear that?" I asked. "What? Hear what?" She asked. Then around the corner of the house came 7 of the undead, I loaded my cross bow and aimed for the zombie in the front. Paige shot her gun and killed about two of them. "I'm out of bullets in my pistol." Paige said. "Here!" I said and threw her the shot gun. She loaded the shot gun and then shot two of the zombies, then I grabbed my revolver and shot two in the head. And then Paige ran up and stabbed the one in the head. I walked over to Paige with the bodies of the undead, and I bent down and looted them for anything I need or could use back at the fortress. I then fiddled with the door handle but stopped when I knew it was locked. "Hey back up I'm going to need to kick the door down, get my back for what ever could be standing right there or if something sneaks up." I said. "Ok." She said. "Ready." She said pointing a gun right over my shoulder. "1-2-3" I said and then kicked the door as hard as I could. It came off the hinges and laid on the floor of the moldy house. I then heard a gun shot go off outside, so I spun around. "Paige?!" I yelled but she was right there holding her gun that wasn't shot. "Someone is close..." Paige said. "Gather stuff up fast! We're not staying to see if they're friendly or not." I demanded. I ran up the stairs and looked through all the dressers and everything. I heard more gun shots going off, they were louder and closer. "Hurry they're getting closer!" Paige yelled. "I can't find money!" I yelled. "We'll hurry!" She yelled. I finally found an empty peanut jar that had money in it. I grabbed it all threw it in my bag, and then looked around for anything else I wanted. "Ok let's go!" I yelled running down the stairs with my bags and weapons. Then out of no where people where walking around outside. Then I saw a big truck that was totally Undead-proof, it was matte black steel body with nice cut edges. There was a few guys in the bed of the truck with guns, and heavy duty weapons. The rims where Steel black, and the front of the truck had a cage on it for hitting zombies. "Should we call for them?" I asked. "No what if they're bad?" Paige said. "Point, ok we will stay out until they're gone. Don't make a single noise or they will know we are here." I said. We peeked out the old musty dirty windows looking into the streets that the sunlight faded on. "Hey the sun is going down." Paige said. "Shit, don't worry we will make it back." I said. The people were right infront of the house, they were all looking around for any people or whatever they wanted. They were older men except for two of them or so, they were my age around there. "The sun is going down, make your way back now. And safely." I heard Paul's voice through the walkie talkie. My heart dropped, I stopped breathing. I grabbed Paige's shoulder because fear has officially taken my body over at this point. "Did you guys hear that?" Asked a guy from the truck. "I'll go check it out." Said one of the teenage boys from the truck. He walked towards the front door, Paige and I sunk down below the window. "What do we do?" Paige asked me. "I uhm...I don't know, lets make a run for the upstairs." I said grabbing her and running up the stairs. We ran into the nearest bedroom, and slowly cracked the door. "I'm so scared." I said. "Just shut up and he won't know." Paige snapped. We heard footsteps up the wooden decaying steps, my heart pumped so fast, I started to have a panic attack. I couldn't breathe. "P-Paige." I gasped for air quietly. "Sshhh" she whispered. "Can't b-breathe..." I whispered. I tried to slow my breathing, then flashbacks came to my head. My family, everytime I had a panic attack my brother calmed me down. But I didn't have any of them anymore. The guy walked past Paige and I so I jumped on his back, and tried to throw him to the ground. But I failed. He grabbed my arm, and flipped me over his shoulder throwing me on the ground. It knocked the wind out of me, I made eye contact with Paige and shook my head at her telling her to hide and leave me, I know she wouldn't let me just die. I gave her a look as I gasped for air that said, 'stay there and don't move.' The guy flipped me over onto my back. I was done gasping for air, and he pulled out a knife and put the tip under my chin. "Who are you? And why the fuck aren't you dead." He demanded, I could see the anger in his eyes. "I-I needed supplies so I came here to grab stuff." I said. "What's your name? And age?" He demanded. "Mackenzie. I-I'm 17." I stuttered. He pushed the knife harder under my chin. "If your going to kill me do it, because I'm not afraid of you." I snapped. "If I ever see you again I will kill you." He said. "Why don't you do it now?" I snapped. The anger in his eyes were gone, "your a stupid girl, you're going to get yourself killed. You're lucky I came in here to check, they would've killed you. Don't come out till we leave, and forget I was ever here." He said getting off me and puttin his knife away, and then walking away and out of the house. Paige ran over to me and wrapped her arms around me, I was breathing so heavy from the fear. "Why wouldn't you let me help you?" She asked. "Because it's better if 1 died than 2 and plus the rest of them would've came in here to check an It would've been a biggest problem." I said. "Ugh, whatever, come on we really need to get home." She said helping me up.
