Chapter One: Canidate 118

Somewhere in Planet Sundown 2517 1300 Hours

The bell rang to tell us that we needed to go home."Alright kiddos go get ready to leave pack up than line up." our teacher said watching all of us 6 year olds packing colouring and little math books in our bags.

"James you coming over to play today?" I turned to face one of my closest friends Olivia. Her olive soft hand grabbed my arm. I looked into her hazel eyes.

"Of course," I said smiling. "Can't bring my box this time?" Joking.

She laughed probably going through the memory. "No no you can't."

I laughed with her. "Ok. I will talk to my mom on the way home."

We both walked out together. She moved one of her long strand of blonde hair. "Ok see you in a bit James!" she ran to her mom who was waiting right outside for her.

I looked around to see if I could find my mom but nothing. She wasn't here. "Hm..." I mumbled. I started to walk off towards my house.

I looked around it is very nice out. The waters making their regular routine sounds. People laughing and talking out on the beach. Of course, out family lives on a planet the technically it's 'vacation' spot.

I shook my head taking my mind off of the beauty of the planet. Now wondering why my mother wasn't there. She usually was right there waiting for him but today...

There was a rustle in a bush. Making me jump and look over, something glowed. I looked around than walked towards it.

"What is th..." that's when I noticed something was off.

I stopped myself looking around again than turned to leave. I looked behind me again to see some men walking the different direction he was going. Where they come from? Whatever it doesn't matter, they are human they can walk too.

When I got home and walked in. I looked for my mom. "Mom?"

There wasn't an answer. "Mom?"

"Yes dear!" I heard her call from the back.

I walked outside to her voice. "Mom," she looked up at me getting done planting her flower. "Just wondering why you weren't at school to pick me up."

She smiled than looked down. She finished than got up walking to him than kneeling to his level. I wasn't too short I was about almost head taller than all the other kids. "James, I was very busy I keep getting calls. So please be very patient with me."

I nodded my head smiling back at her. Her eyes were just like mine brown but hers had a shine to it. That always gave me a happy warm feeling. "Ok," she got up leaving him outside but I followed. "I was wondering if I could go play with..."

"Not today honey," she grabbed her purse and headed to the door. "Stay here ok?" I have to run to the store. I will bring back a snack," she turned to face having her brown hair fall on her face. "Love you."

I smile back. "Love you too."

She shut the door leaving me behind. I sighed for bit than noticing I forgot to shut the door. But when I turned I froze.

There was a man standing right there he was in a uniform, kinda military. "Uh..." Than I noticed something that was odd. I looked behind him and it was a kid. A kid that looked...exactly like me...

I gasped looking back up at him but it was too late to scream, to yell, or even run. Cause he had a cloth out around my mouth with a weird scent on it. Making me black out and see darkness.

....................................................................Reach Military Complex, Planet Reach 2517 1330 Hours

"Dr. Halsey James 118 has been acquired and ready to be sent ma'am." The solider said over the comm.

She smiled very happy to hear that it sounded like it went well. "And the clone?"

"Already activated and ready to decease in couple of days." He responded.

Dr. Halsey looked at the holographic computer screen. She saw at least 85% kids have been taken and being sent to Reach now. She scanned the computer and saw candidate John 117 hasn't been brought yet. She frowned than moved on, scanning the other candidates. She couldn't help but look at James 118 again to check his health, intelligence, and even some of his talents.

"Hm..." she mumbled pulling up the other classmates he had. "Interesting."

She looked at his brain scans. Faster than all the other kids. She forgot how this candidate was fast thinker, not only to equations but to strategies. Getting out if the worst possible situation. Well for a 6 year old of course.

"Deja?" Dr. Halsey asked for the AI Construct.

The AI appeared and stood in front of her. "Yes doctor?"

"Replay Chief Mendez's message." She ordered.

"Replaying Chief Mendez message." She repeated.

"Hello Catherine Halsey it's an honour to speak to you. I was informed by ONI that you were doing a project. A project that could help stop the war between us and the Insurrections. Well I am proposing Doctor. You could need the help to form these...super soldiers. To have actual military training, education, and if course strategies. Of course your in charge if this...Spartan II project but I believe you need the help ad support. Thank you Doctor Halsey and call back. As soon as you can." The message ended.

From the sound of his voice he sounded like a good man to trust. To have him be at her side. But why did ONI not inform her first? That was always made her feel uncomfortable for her when ONI decides to make their own rules. She pushed her feelings to the side and focused more on Déjà.

"Déjà, patch in Chief Mendez tell him to meet here by 2200 before his new candidates show up." She said getting out of her chair.

"Of course doctor." She said. "Anything else doctor?"

She walked to the sealed door that slid open. "Yes tell me when all the children are sent."
