May 30th,
Anabella was final eighteen, which meant she could live on her own. She decided though, that she wanted to go back to her old house. I told her it was not safe and I didn’t want her to be in danger. But, she reassured me that if her dad ever came home again she would call the police. I didn’t understand. She didn’t want to call the police before, why was she okay with it now? She explained to me that if they took her father away now, she would be able to stay here and live on her own. It made some sense to me but I still didn’t think it was safe.
I walked her back to her house. Once we arrived I checked around for her father. There was no sign that he was home, or had been home recently. The fridge was empty and the house was covered in a layer of dust. Both were signs telling us that it had probably been weeks since he last came home.
Knowing she was now safe I kissed Anabella goodbye. I turned to leave when a random thought popped into my head. “Anabella,” I said turning back to her, “Do you remember the day we met?” She nodded her head yes. “The first time I ever talked to you I asked you if you used sign language and then you signed something to me, what was it?” She smiled and I could tell she remembered exactly what she had signed to me. She lifted her hands and signed to me, ‘I think I am in love with you.’ I blushed and smiled at her. ‘It’s true that’s what I signed.’ I smiled even bigger and kissed her once more. “I love you,” I said to her as I backed towards the door. ‘To the end of time and back,’ she signed and then waved bye. I love her. I’ve loved her since the first time I saw her and that would be something that would never change.
