Adli assured Kayana to go grocery shopping as she hadn't take any meal since yesterday. She reluctantly obliged because she'd never really go out. While walking their way to the market, Adli stared at her in awe and fascination. With black hair that falls just below her shoulder, plump lips, blushing cheek, and tall figure, she was just plain intriguing.
"Why do you look at me like that?"
"Like what?"
"Like you've never meet be before."
"Huh? Nothing, I guess. It's just a rare occassion to walk with you."
"I never liked going out. I don't like being outside my home."
Adli smiled, changing his gaze to the street. The weather was nice, with birds pecking and the clouds strolling through the bright sky. Adli held Kayana's hand spontaneously, guiding her to walk across the street. At the end of the street, he felt that she was just stopped walking. He turned back to her, and saw her eyes getting bigger. She blushed and went back walking. Adli smiled happily, not knowing the hurricane whirling inside Kayana's head.
"Adli," Kayana shrugged.
"Yes?"
"Guess, I'm your bestfriend so I'm going to tell you something"
"Tell me, then. You never really talked about anything to me."
"I'm in love with someone—"
"With whom?" He asked. He could feel his heart thumping.
"—I don't really know."
"What do you mean with that?"
"I—"
She was going to finish her sentence, when a random guy appeared in front of them, breaking their conversation. Kayana scanned through his appearance, from head to toe. He was strikingly handsome, with tall figure and thick eyebrows.
"Um, Hi." He greeted nervously, hiding his hands in his pocket.
"Do I seem to know you?" Kayana asked, with a slight of suspicion in her eyes.
"I'm aware that you don't. I was just going to ask you.."
"About?"
"Well, I was just going to the market with my friends. And one of my friends—she looks definitely like you. I don't know if you're just similar or maybe it was just a coincidence."
No, no. Could it be.. her?
"Kayana, whatever you are thinking about, could you please explain?" Adli stared at her with confusion.
It couldn't be her.
"Kayana?" Adli tried to break her daydream.
"Uh, You—show me. Please."
"Call me Hio. And, yes, follow me."
Hio and kayana walked in a rush, with Adli behind them, trying to match their steps. They arrived at the entrance of the market as Hio stopped his step and scanned through the location. Once he found someone he tried to find, he guided a confused Kayana to a fruit stall.
It is her.
"Is it you.. Tava? It couldn't be you. Please. Is it you?" Kayana trembled, her voice shaken. Her feet couldn't take the weight anymore.
The girl whose name has been called turned her back and jumped in shock. They stared at each other for a second and run for a hug.
"Kayana! It's been a long time. I missed you." Tava cried in excitement.
"Technically, it is your fault. You ran away at 9 and you never come back."
"Tell me something I missed?"
"Dad and mom held your funeral ceremony. They thought you were died. I am the only one left at home that still believe you're going to come back."
"That was hilarious!" She said, wiping her tears.
"Anyhow, I'm showing you someone."
Tava pointed at a guy who is looking at the apple neatly placed in the display. The guy turned around to call Tava, and his eyes met with Kayana's.
Diemas.
She could feel her heart stopped as she saw a man she used to believe was dead in front of her.
A man she used to love.
