Is This Goodbye?

The next day, we had an appointment at the hospital. They needed to run some tests to see what type of treatment Lilly needed. Lilly's mom and dad drove her, while I followed in my car.

Once we got there, we were a little early. We all went into the Starbucks across the street, and I bought Lilly a tall vanilla bean frapp. 10 minutes later, it was time. We went to the right floor, and waited in the cold lobby.

"Miss.Reynolds?" A nurse called into the room. "I guess that's me..." Lilly said, slowly getting up from her seat beside me. "I love u.." I said, giving her a quick hug. "I love you too..." She said quietly, as she walked away.

It was after an 1 hour 1/2 that I decided to go check out the shops. "Mrs.Reynolds? I'm going to go downstairs..." I whispered. "That's fine sweetie.. Take all the time you need." She said. With a quick nod that said "thank you" I hurried out.

I was walking past all the shops when I spotted a beautiful necklace. I went into the shop, and asked the store owner if I could get a better look.
"Sure kid.. Just over there." He said. It was a beautiful tiny heart locket, with a single lavender stone in the middle.

"You can also get It engraved if you'd like. It only costs $7 extra." The man said. "How much is it??" I asked. " $100. There's no tax." The man said. "I'll take it. I would like to also engrave it." I said handing it to the polite man.
Normally, a guy would think that's too much to spend on a girl, but I didn't care. I loved her, and I wanted to show her that.

I headed back up to the lobby, too find Lilly sitting there alone.
"Hey." I said, sitting next to her. "My parents are talking to the doctor..." She said, fiddling with her thumbs. " how'd it go??" I asked, wrapping my arm around her. " it hurt... They poked me a lot..." She said, leaning her head on my chest. "I'm sorry baby." I whispered. We sat like that for a couple of minutes, until I remembered my trip to the shop. "Oh!!!" I said, sitting up. "What???" Lilly asked, startled. "I got this for you.." I said, pulling out the little black box. She took it carefully into her hands, and opened it. Her eyes immediately lit up. "Oh Cal..." She exclaimed, looking at it in awe. " look at the back." I said. She turned it over, to see the engraving I love you. ~ Cal.
"I love it honey! Thank you!" She said, kissing me. I clasped it onto her neck, the lavender stone making her eyes look brighter than ever.

The big door swung open, accompanied with voices. Lilly's parents came out, thanking the doctor. "Sooo??" Lilly asked. "You have to come back here tom. So they can start the treatment." Lilly's dad said, taking in a deep breath. "Oh.." Lilly said, all her happiness gone. I helped her get up, and walked her out. I was scared, and I knew she was too.
