Her eyes lit up with surprise. "I love it!!" She exclaimed, kissing me.
We ate pasta, and then cuddled together. At one point, we saw a shooting star. It was so beautiful. At the end of the date, we kissed, and it was the best feeling ever.
THE NEXT DAY
I got up early that morning because I was going over to Lilly's house to help her pack for the hospital. On the way over, I picked up a pizza and some icecream ( cookie dough, Lils fav.). A short time later, I arrived.
DING DONG
"Cal!!" Lilly said, throwing open the door and hugging me. "Woah! Chill girl!" I said, laughing. "I've been so lonley..." She said cutting off. "Is that PIZZA I smell?!" She said, looking around. "Yup! And ice cream!" I said, walking into the kitchen. "A girls truly happy when she has food!!" She said, digging into the pizza. "Obviously.." I said. "HEY!" The said, punching me. "Oh, it is SO on." I yelled, chasing her into the living room. I grabbed her, pushing her into the couch. I found her ticklish spot (in between her hips and ribs) and tickled her. "STOOPP!!" She yelled, snorting. " NEVER!" I yelled, digging further. "NOT UNTIL YOU SAY SORRY!" I yelled. "Nuh uh." She protested. I tickled more. "FINE FINE! Sorry!!!" She said, pushing me off.
"We have ice cream to eat!" She said, running into the kitchen.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
After we finished eating and goofing off, I helped her pack. We were quiet, and I could see Lilly was on the verge of tears. Who knew how long it was going to be until she came home again. My mind started to run.
What if it's really bad?
What if this changes our relationship?
What if she never leaves the hospital again?I must of been mumbling, because Lilly looked over at my funny.
"What?" I asked. "Nothing..." She said, looking back down.
I knew that was a lie.
I embraced her into a hug, and I felt her immediately relax more. "I'm scared Cal." She sobbed into my shoulder. "Lilly, I'm not going to lie.... I am too. But we will get through this!" I whispered. She looked into my eyes and I saw doubt.
LATER THAT DAY.
"WERE HOME!" Lilly's parents called from the living room, the door slamming shut.
"CRAP!" We both yelled at the same time. We weren't finished packing (we had gotten distracted). Lilly started to throw clothes at me, and I stuffed them in. She went into the bathroom and grabbed basically everything off the counter and put it into a bag. She stuffed it in, and closed it. I sat on it, while she zipped it. "I can't believe we did that so fast. I'm probably forgetting a lot of stuff." Lilly said, sighing. "Don't worry. I can come back later and pick up what you need." I said, picking up the suitcase. "Thanks. Let's go." Lilly said, walking out. She started to enter the living room, when she stopped. "Wait." Lilly said, running back to her room. I followed her, confused. When I looked into her doorway I saw her on her bed, her face buried into the pillow. "Hey?" I asked. "Sorry... It's just..." She said, getting up. "It's just that I may not come back here for a while." She said, walking past me and out the door.1 HOUR LATER
We were sitting in a lobby, waiting for a nurse to show us to her room.
"Do you want something to eat?" I asked, turning to look at her. "Um, I guess.." She said, her eyes red.
As I got up to go, I heard the door open. "Lilly Reynolds?" A red-headed nurse asked. "That's me." Lilly said, standing up. "Your room is ready. Follow me." The nurse said, opening the door. I started to follow them, when Lilly stopped me. "I thought you were getting me something to eat?" She asked teasingly. "But..." I stuttered. "Go! I'll call you when I know the room number." She said, pushing me away. She walked off, the door closing in my face. Well then.... I thought, laughing to myself. I went downstairs and found a vending machine. I was inserting the buttons to pick a cookie, when a blonde girl walked in. She immediately caught my eye, and she looked at me too. "I'm sorry, I thought you were someone else.. But I don't know who." I said embarrassed. "I feel like I've seen you too." The girl said. "I'm cal." I said. "Cal.... I'm Gabby. Um, did you happen to ever go to Camp Clearwaters?" She asked. "Yeah.... Wait. Did you ever know a girl named Lilly?" I asked. "Yeah!!!! We were camp buddies! And you were the boy she had a crush on! Right?"she asked excitedly. "She had a crush on me?" I asked. "Yeah... You were like the cutest boy there!" She said, laughing. "Wow.... What are you doing here?" I asked, sitting down at a nearby table. "Oh....Leukemia. I got it the month following camp. I'm doing good though. They expect me to leave really soon, and they think that it will be gone after that. What are you doing here??" Gabby said. "Oh. Lilly's just been diagnosed with cancer also." I said, frowning. "Oh no! Is it bad?" She asked worried. "She has a small chance of living." I said, feeling my eyes get watery. She gasped, and stood up. "Well then I'm going to go see her!" She said. "What room number?" She asked.
As if on cue,Lilly called. "Hey! I'm in room 113." She said. "K. I'm coming." I said, and hung up.
"113? Got it!" Gabby said, walking out.Hey! I'm sorry I took so long to update... Life gets crazy sometimes!! Do you like the knew character? I thought it was time to meet someone different.... Tell me what you think about her! Hope you like this story and keep reading!
