So I get to the barn late (mom) and at my barn we don't have a ton of people and stuff so being late is ok. Unless your me.
Me: I HAVENT SEEN MY GIRL IN TEN SECONDS IM HORSE DEPRIVED MOM TAKE ME TO THE BARN
So I get there and I step out of the car with my stuff. I look over to the little outside stalls we have and see my lovely Lu. She sees me, and proceeds to stop drop and roll. Which is horrifying because I washed her blanket, YESTERDAY.
As I come over she stops rolling and looks mighty pleased with herself. Internally I'm just thinking, "Ok whatever, I'll just throw it in the washer with Rhett's when we get inside. Wait, why is my horse not moving?"
During my internal dialogue, I had put on Lu's halter and asked her to get up. She snorts at me and refuses to get up.
Me: I GIVE UP
So I sat down in the shavings and snuggled with my pony. My trainer came out of the barn and looked over at me and just started laughing.
Me: Remind me why I put up with this?
Trainer: Because you love her
Me: Right, now give me a good reason
Trainer: You're an equestrian, we don't have good reasons
Me: Excellent point
Trainer: If you get her up you can ride bareback today.
Me: YESPlease note that bareback is like my favorite thing ever. Sure, I suck at it (I'm not ashamed to admit it), but I LOVE it. So does Lu.
So, I take the lead rope, clip it to one side of the halter, tie the end of it to the other, throw my "reins" over Lu's head, hop on her back, grab double handfuls of mane, say, "HEYAH!" And up the Lulu goes.
Trainer: 👏
Me: 👍😄💜🐴Yo wandering browser. Go look at TheBlindHorse and her equestrian journal because it inspired this!
