I finally get to be alone. The inside of the house is even spookier looking than the outside! I'm in the room on the second floor with the blue door. Not strange at all. Ms. Rose decided to leave me alone for a little while with makes me happy. I call the one person who has been there for me the whole time, Johnny Grey. I call, and of course,I get voice mail. I leave him a message, but there isn't much hope in him answering. I just sit it this old rocking chair in the corner of the room near the window. I just close my eyes and imagine Mom standing right next to me, smiling and telling me everything will be OK. I wish she were right. I never knew Dad but Mom says he left her once he found out about me. I hear a knock of the door. " It's just me, Aunt Rosie. Can I come in?"
"Why not? There is nothing else for anyone to destroy of mine. I'm just a tree that stands alone." I stare out the window, no point in looking at her. I hear her footsteps enter the room. They stop not too far from me.
"Sweetie, you can't blame me for the loss of both of your parents. Plus, I'm the only family member who would take you in." I just roll my eyes. That's not a good enough excuse. "You may be looking in the window but I can still see you roll your eyes at me. I know you don't know who I am. Your mom hated me. I wasn't the loved child of the 5 of us. But you didn't get to meet the other 2 before their 'accident'."
"Is that the best excuse you've got?'Your mom hated me'? Not impressed. I can do better. Plus don't speak of someone who can't defend themselves. Especially your own sister." I hear her shift on her feet. She sits at the end of the bed which isn't too far from me. I don't move.
"Taylor, I know your upset but you need to let people in. On Monday I'm sending you to a public school near here. The kids there are so sweet and kind and very accepting. You will feel right at home on your very first day." I roll my eyes once more. How can I be accepted in any other place other than my old home with my mom?
"Fine. I will go but I wear what I choose, you don't tell me how to run my life. And how would you now how the students there are there?" Please don't work there! It would be terrible!
" I'm a cafeteria worker there so I chat with them everyday. And the neighbor boy who lives across the street offered to show you around on your first day. His name is Ethan Hamilton. And he Is a kind, generous, and sweet boy." I roll my eyes once more. Now there is some kind who is gonna show me around the school like I'm helpless. " I invited Ethan over to come and hang with you once you got here so you guys could get along when the day came for you to go to school." SERIOUSLY!!!!!!
