Chapter 3

Joel's POV

I'm holding on to that feeling, for as long as possible.

That's the first feeling of security I've felt since I last hugged my parents. I've missed the feeling of security, but intimate contact with Leah, as little as hugging, brings it back to me.

"So, who wants to play hide and seek?" I hear Tyler say after we all said our hellos.

Everyone agreed and I ended up being the seeker. Fuck my life.

I count to 50, and I already feel pathetic and childish, but I'm okay with it.

I open my eyes and look at the barren wasteland that is now the park and start searching for my friends.

I quickly find Tyler, Kyla, and then I find jacqueline.

I go more up the hill to a large tree. As I'm turning around the tree I hear a sound come from the woods. I turn my head sideways, but continue walking forward. Mistake.

I all of a sudden fall onto a small, 5'3 figure. Leah.

I prop myself up with my hands, so I don't crush her. Dammit why am I so clumsy.

I look down at her blushing figure and smirk before blushing a little myself.

I look down at her lips, before brushing away the urge to kiss her. It's to soon, I've only just started hanging out with her again. I just can't help but want to.

I get up from our intimate position and help up Leah. Then she does something I don't expect her to do.

She wraps her small arms around my neck. I, of course, wrap my arms around her waist and I feel her nuzzle her face into my neck.

After staying there for awhile, we both reluctantly let go and blush.

"Let's go look for the others, they're probably worried" Leah laughs and we both slowly intertwine our fingers together shyly. We run down the hill, hand in hand, until we reach the bottom and let go of each other when we see our other friends.

"Ooh, what were you guys doing?" Kyla smirked and Leah playfully hit her arm.

"Rude..." Kyla pouted while holding he forearm, where Leah hit her.

"So, where was Jaime?" I laughed.

"I was hiding in that bush over there." Jaime said.

He pointed to a bush behind the tree where me and Leah just were. When we both looked at it we blushed and awkwardly laughed.

"Yeah, but once he fell on you I snuck around and ran over here"

"Woah woah woah, what else happened?" Jackie winked. I wish more but.

"NOTHING. All he did was fall on me and help me up." Leah chuckled. We also hugged, and almost kissed, and ran down the hill holding hands. But let's not mention that...

"Y'all are so cute goddamn." Jaime said.

"Oh Shutup, we're just friends..nothing more..." Leah sighed. just stab me and rip my heart out that would hurt less.

Jaime went over to jacqueline and wrapped his arm around her and she snuggled into him as it was getting colder.

Tyler and Kyla did the same and Leah and I were awkwardly standing there. She started shivering, I felt so bad for not going over there and hugging her, but I'm so awkward.

I see Jaime look at Leah shivering and then he looks at me with the look of ARE YOU SERIOUS GO OVER THERE.

I shook my head and look down, I really want to. But will it be awkward?
