About a week later, we were all allowed to go home for winter break. Brad made me come home so I could help with the ball, plus I was being forced to go to it. I had to go buy a dress with Crystal, too, one that was green and silver. Because I had to wear Slytherin colors. Unfortunately.

"Try this one on, (Y/N), it might look alright on you." Crystal handed me another green and silver dress, pushing me towards the changing rooms. She was really used to shopping in Muggle stores, since my mum made a good amount of money and took her shopping a lot. We were in this really high-maintenance place that sold expensive dresses. The dresses were pretty, yes, but I could have done without every single employe watching me go in and out of the changing room and asking if that was the one I was buying.

I went into the changing room and sighed. This was the sixth dress (I counted). None of them were to my liking. The one dress I had actually liked was pale blue and, as Crystal said, "Wouldn't even look good on me."

I quickly took off my sweater and jeans and put on the dress. It was better than the last six, I have to agree, but it was still terrible. It was a dark green color, with a ruffly skirt. It wasn't even flattish, it was straight poof. The top was covered in silver gem-like things, and the skirt and bodice were separated by a silver pearled belt thing. I showed Crystal, and she told me it looked like I had gained a few hundred pounds. I told her thanks and went back into the changing room.

I got out, shoved the dress at Crystal, and walked off into dress land. As I made my way through the rows of dresses, one in particular caught my eyes. It had a kind of flowery top, a scrunchy bodice, a flowery belt thing, and an almost pleated skirt. It looked perfect. And, get this, it was dark green! I grabbed it and ran back to Crystal, showing it to her. She actually agreed that it looked nice.

When I tried it on, it felt perfect. The soft fabric against my skin, it just felt right. I showed Crystal what I looked like in it, and she said I looked nice. I decided that that was the dress I was going to get, so I bought it. Crystal was more than happy to leave. When I got back, I hung the dress up and planned out what I was going to wear with it.

I was kind of excited to go to this ball. I was kind of excited to show everyone how well I dress up.

The Malfoy's were over for dinner that night, so I had to stay up in my room until they left. It was extremely boring because I didn't even have Roxy to play with. Midnight was delivering a letter to Ron, so I couldn't even do anything with her. I tried to read and write, but after a couple hours it got boring. I decided to go downstairs to get something to eat, and maybe something to do.

I tiptoed down the stairs, making sure to jump over the ones that squeaked. My socked feet made little to no noise, so I didn't really have to try that hard to be quiet. I walked quietly from the staircase to the kitchen, where our chef was making some food. We had a couple house elves, but I made sure they only had to do easy tasks.

"Hey, can I have some of whatever that is, please?" I asked, and the chef nodded. He gave me a plate that had some sort of fancy food on it. I thanked him and left with the plate, making sure I walked past the dining room fast. Unfortunately for me, when I was walking past the dining room, one of our maids walked out, running into me and causing me and my food to go flying. So now, there was a huge mess and a loud noise.

The maid looked at me and started apologizing a million times, saying things like, "Oh, I'm so sorry Miss (Y/N), let me help you." I just shook her off, wanting to get away from the situation as quickly as possible. I stood up, grabbed my empty plate and left. I heard Brad ask her what had happened, and she replied by saying she had accidentally run into me, calling me 'Miss (Y/N).' I could hear Brad's quick intake in breath, and ran to the stairs to get away from his anger.
