When Jaela woke up Blaine wasn't up yet. He was sprawled on her bed shirtless. Without knowing it her eyes stared him down from his strong, wide shoulders, to his muscular back to his tush, which was only covered by boxers which clung to his lower waist. It wasn't that hot was it? Jaela thought.
Jaela shook her head. She shouldn't be eyeing a friend. They were hardly even that, but she knew they would never be anything more than that so she didn't need to be admiring his body.
Jaela got up and went into the bathroom to take a quick shower. After the shower, she got her towel and wrapped it around her body so she could go get her clothes which she forgot because she usually gets dressed out in her room. She quickly rushed to her dresser holding the towel tight to her body so it wouldn't fall, just in case Blaine woke up.
"Jaela?" Blaine said. Jaela jumped at his voice.
"Oh my gosh! close your eyes! I'm in a towel."
"I've seen more" he said with a smirk while putting his hands over his eyes.
"Not of me! So keep your eyes covered" she grabbed her clothes and ran into the bathroom. "Okay you can open them now."
"I've got to go home to get dressed, so if you could hurry so we could stop by my place before we go to school, that'd be wonderful"
"No problem" she hurriedly put her clothes on and quickly brushed her hair back before brushing her teeth.
"Alright almost ready just let me get some socks."
"You didn't need to go that fast, love" Blaine laughed his voice still raspy since waking. "It's only 7:20, school doesn't start 8:20"
"I want to go find my day two classes earlier so I don't get lost." She said as she put her socks on.
"Oh okay I'll get my shirt on." He stood up and as he put his shirt on, she could see his back muscles stretch and flex. She found herself biting her lip but when he turned around she did as well. Facing the wall, she held in her laugh.
They grabbed her bag and got into the car. Jaela and Blaine talked the whole way. Chat was always initiated by Blaine, which Jaela had no problem with.
Blaine's place was a midsized house which had a really big kitchen, and an average living room. Blaine wouldn't let her in his room since apparently "it wasn't presentable", as Blaine told her. Jaela walked around the couches to the fireplace which had photographs on top in frames. She saw his mother, brother, sister, father and himself. She smiled at the baby picture of him as he was groping a gigantic beach ball too big for his little arms. It looked like such a perfect family. Everyone happy and smiling. Jaela always wished she had siblings. Her father was always away for work and didn't offer to take her with him. So it was always her and her mom. She sighed.
"Alright I'm ready." He said. He came out wearing a gray v-neck with a leather jacket and a dark gray beanie just like the one he was wearing when they met.
Wow it was only the day before. Yet they were so comfortable with each other Jaela didn't understand how they clicked so well out of no where. Are all friendships this simple? I must've been overthinking my whole life. She laughed to herself.
They got back into Blaine's car and Blaine was asking all of her favorites to pass the time.
"What is your favorite food?" Blaine asked her. Jaela thought about Blaine's random but simple question.
"I'd have to say some kind of Mexican food... Too many to choose" she smirked. "I'll pick the whole category" Blaine laughed at her broadness. When his eyes scrunched up, she smiled. She loved how he looked so happy from one little sentence of hers.
"ok. Favorite color?" He said driving.
Jaela answered all his questions simply and he asked another after another. They arrived at school at 8:00 so she was able to go find her classes for the day.
But when she got to the office where she had to get her day 2 schedule she was reminded of Jem. Where was he? He better have some very valid reason for why he left.
She got her schedule and wandered back to her locker before going to class she had a lot of things from yesterday's classes which she forgot to get signed.
"Jaela!" She looked up and Elias was running up to her coming out of the band room.
"Hey" she said. She sounded upset.
"What's wrong?" He said once he was at her locker. Jaela debated telling him.
"Jem." She said simply. She didn't want to be angry at him because she isn't his responsibility but he shouldn't have just left her there. Elias put his eyebrows up in confusion.
"What'd he do?" Elias asked.
"He volunteered to bring me to the hospital to see my mother but then he left me there when he said he'd wait."
"I'm sure whatever the reason, he will come tell you." He says shaking his head.
"Do you know?" She said noticing him acting strange.
"I think I do but... I'll talk to him."
"It's alright. See you later" she turned around to head to her first class, Civics.
"Actually Jaela," he paused rubbing his arm with his other hand. "Would you like to go on a date with me tonight?"
Wait what? Elias, like me? She thought.
"Uh sure..."
"What's wrong?"
"I don't know it's just I never really thought that someone would ask me out so soon in my high school career."
"You're really pretty, and I want to get to know you."
"Really? Thank you Elias. What time? Where?"
"After school?"
"I'll have to ask my.." She pauses. "I mean never mind ok after school meet me here?"
"Alright see you then"
Jaela rushed to her first class. All she could think of was her date later. She had forgotten about Jem. She knew she was bound to forgive him anyway. He had his own life, she should've been grateful he even brought her there. She didn't think of Blaine although when she realized she wasn't thinking of him, she did. Then changed back to Elias. What kind of date would it be if all she thought about was another guy? Especially one of his friends. Elias seemed like a nice guy, he was always happily pouncing around when she was near him and the excitement was appreciated. He also cared and he was so awkward when asking her out. He's so incredibly cute, she realized she couldn't wait to see him again.
She rushed to all her classes that day didn't talk much during them.
It was finally the end of the day when she saw Opal and Alexa talking at the corner.
"Jaela! Wanna come hang with us later?" Alexa asked.
"Um sorry guys can't..."
"Come on its the second day of school how busy could you be?" Opal said.
"Oh it's not school, I've got a date after school, so right now. Talk to you later?" Jaela smiled and walked back to her locker.
The other two girls gaped. Jaela had a date on the second day of school. They couldn't believe it any more than Jaela could herself.
