Maybe Jaela thought it'd go well but all good things come to an end. It started a week after that night under the stars. Her and Blaine had a nice week, all fun and games. They kissed under the stair well in "cock-block hallway". It was nicknamed that because no matter what time of day you go through that hallway you were bound to "cock-block somebody".They laughed and spent nights at each others houses. It really started, the next day. Elias, he was very jealous. How could she do that to him? She just played with his emotions... It's not like he actually loved her it's just what's better about Blaine than him? He had to know. So the week after the night under the stars, he came up to Jaela's lunch table where Blaine was now seated.
"Blaine," they didn't hear him. He folded his arms and got even angrier. How could they just ignore him. He was still behind them so they didn't see him but he was still angry. He went around to be in front of her. "WHAT MAKES HIM BETTER THAN ME?!" He asked. He was prepared to come over here calm and collected but that didn't work out for him. He automatically blushed. Blaine's eyes were wide in astonishment. He didn't expect this from his best friend. He thought he'd be happy for him. He wouldn't have done something if he knew it'd hurt him. Elias and himself went way back. Elias sat up straighter and cleared his throat. "I'm sorry, I just really wanted to know. What makes Blaine more desirable than I?" Jaela's eyes softened. She felt bad. Blaine had assured her that he wouldn't be like this. Apparently they didn't know each other so well. "Elias it isn't that... You are desirable. He just... I just... You... You are just not that one for me..." She couldn't find a better way to say what she felt towards Blaine was different than what she felt towards him. Elias rolled his eyes and walked away. Of course she's say something so vague. He was better than Blaine.
Blaine face palmed himself. He should have taken charge it was his best friend who was verbally attacking his girlfriend, about him. "I'm sorry Jaela, had I known he was this upset I..."
"You would have what Blaine? What could we have done? There's nothing we could've done. Except go against our own happiness. Would you have done that Blaine. Would you have given up on an us?"
Blaine shook his head. "No I would not, you are the most important thing in my life right now. But I feel like I could have explained things to him"
"You couldn't have. He's not listening to reason right now.. I hurt him. I hurt him bad and it's only fixable by time." She shook her head and rested it on Blaine's shoulder. He rubbed her hair with his jaw. Jaela always knew what to say. How had he grown so much feelings so quickly? But of course she could ask the same about Blaine and herself. But they were brought together by fate. She could feel it. They were meant to be, love at first sight. She couldn't deny the rush he gave her when she first saw him and she knew he felt the same. No one could say that they weren't in love. No one could deny what Blaine and herself had.
Elias was really embarrassed. He didn't mean to blow up like that. He guessed that's what happens when you hold feelings inside over night. He should have talked it through with her over the phone. It would have gone smoother. The view of her loving him, left him angrier than ever. That could've been him. Yet he wasn't good enough for some reason. He sat back in his chair in the back of the classroom. He put his earphones in and blocked out the world. Listening to the mumbling of lyrics as he thought through his problems.
His plans never worked out. He always ended up going too big about everything. Why did she even mean this much to him? He didn't even know her middle name. They weren't that close. Why did he want her that bad? He didn't want her. He just wanted to be wanted. And this ruined his self esteem. What if no one wanted him ever? Was he ugly? Was he rude? He thought he was wonderful, a wonderful friend, date-companion, a great everything. Yet apparently not. What did Blaine have the he did not? Jaela. Blaine had Jaela and Elias had nobody. Elias had the music blaring in his ears, he had the judgmental peers staring at him as he closed his eyes as if he was listening to a lullaby when the peers could hear what he was listening to and it wasn't that. Elias had the A on his paper, that he had to earn to keep his image. He had the likes on Instagram that made him happy at night. He had the material things that once made him happy, but only because of his ego, that had then been chopped down. He had the superficial meaning of happiness and Blaine had what he needed. Blaine had all he wanted and he couldn't get it. He couldn't win her back, he had seen the love that she and Blaine shared. He was going to have to give up. That bond seemed impossible to break.
Blaine went home early that night, instead of the usual go-to-Jaela's-place-and-binge-watch-horrible-movies, he told her he had tons of homework. He felt bad lying so early on in the relationship, but he couldn't tell her he needed to go sort out his feelings. That's not very masculine of him. He thought that'd make him seem weak.
Jaela knew he didn't have homework, she knew Blaine needed to sort out his internal thoughts. She didn't think less of him. She thought more of him. He actually wanted to make this work and make him and Elias work. He actually cared about what he and his best friend had. And he was going to fight for what he wanted. It's good to think through your feelings. It's good to not be impulsive. She let him go. She needed to think for herself anyway.
