"LET'S EAT!" a little voice began once the prayer was finished.
As always, people were gathered around the table ready for dinner. Delicious food was in the middle, while everyone sat on their seats with empty stomachs. The smell of warm roasted food lingered in the room, and everyone began making their empty plates into mountains.
Calum looked down next to him to find the little girl, Ri, very low compared to the table. She was the one who had raised their little voice to start dinner. She was trying to reach for the plate of chicken, but was too far for her little weenie arms.
So Calum grabbed all the food she wanted and placed it on her plate, flashing her a smile.
"Thank you, Uncle Cal-ly." she said in the cutest voice he'd ever heard in his life.
"All good, kid." he said shuffling the top of her head, pretending his heart didn't melt when she called him Uncle Cal-ly.
Before any of them could begin binging on the food, Anahera had stood up from her chair with her glass on one hand. And it brought Calum to conclusion that she was beginning a toast.
"To Calum!" she cheered bringing her glass up in the air. "For always being there for people who needed you most, and for being my best friend." she toasted, which bought everyone glasses up in the air. "To Calum!" they all cheered.
But one thing that surprised him the most was when, Niko came up off his seat. "To Calum, for being a person to look up to." he said winking at his brother, then to Calum with a smile.
"To Calum," Arorangi started. "We will all miss you so very much." And this earned more cheers, which bought Calum all the happiness in the world. Every face was shown happiness and adoration, and it was to him.
In the beginning of his trip, he was shy (and he actually fainted). He was scared everyone wasn't going to like him. He didn't know how to act around this people, because he didn't know anything about them. But what he knew now, was that these people were family. He didn't need to know how to act. Because he just needed to be himself.
They weren't here to judge, they were here to love.
His eyes scanned the room, and what made him even more happy was when Koro bought his glass up and smiled at Calum. Giving him a wink, and one slow nod.
Calum was delighted.
