this is chapter is SO BAD ... I'm so sorrrrry this is bOring. (^^ BUT LOOK AT CAL & JOY !!)

☹ ☹ ☹

The buzzing on his stomach was the reason he woke up that morning.

Squinty eyes being opened only to be blinded by the torturing sun light that came right through the window. With his right hand covering the torching light, he pondered around his surroundings with partly closed eyes.

Papers scattered around him, crumpled up on the bed and all leading towards the overflowing rubbish bin.

He tried finishing that song last night, but weakly fell asleep during it. He was struggling from the complicated lyrics, his sister wrote. Mali was the writer, and Calum played the guitar. It was never the other way around. He also didn't want to take things out.

The original sounded too good, and she'd only written one verse of it; it was nowhere being finished.

He was nearly going to fall back to bed with his fatigue, but only to be interrupted with the phone vibrating yet again.

It was only a notification, and he wanted to scream in frustration at the reason why he was woken up. The smell of fried food filled his nostrils as he looked at the wooden door slightly intimidating him. He popped his elbows on the bed, as he narrowed his eyebrows in thought.

Noises of screaming children caught his attention, as he looked over to the glass window. Hot scorching sun in the distance, following with the beach, as the backyard was filled with many visitors like yesterday night.

Little kids playing touch rugby, ladies preparing a large long table with lots and lots of food.

Calum stood up, got off the bed and walked towards the window trying to get a better look at what in the world was happening.

He could see Anahera preparing the table with other girls; yet she had the brightest and biggest smile out of all of them. She was laughing at something, before she noticed Calum in his little room. She gleamed and nodded for him to come over with her hand waving towards her, outside.

All the other girls snapped their heads to look at who Anahera was giving hand signals too, only for Calum to abruptly shut the curtains.

He could already feel Anahera frowning from behind, and he just stood there at the dark by himself listening to the music that was beginning to play outside. It was an upbeat tune, and it definitely screamed summer.

The love, the hate
Don't hate this ain't no ordinary life
We give, we take
This ain't no temporary high

It somehow gave him a sudden rush of excitement for the day ahead for him. It was a new day. This won't be a temporary day, and so won't the next day and the day after, his subconscious motivated him.

He has an adventure waiting for him. Meeting new people, and maybe meeting his long-lost relatives.

But, he needed to do one very important thing first. And that was to apologise, for his foolish acts the other night.

It was simply disrespectful and he just needed a closure. He hated the way he acted last night. It showed how weak and vulnerable he was; and he despised himself for it. His best friends believed Calum was the outrageous and reckless one in their little group; with his many tattoos, and careless acts. Whilst he was just another boy trying to figure himself out, just like everyone else.

He took his black stuffy shirt off, only to place on a new- cleaned peppered grey baseball top. He ditched his black boots, and slipped on his muggy old vans.

He found Arorangi first.

Her old grey hair, nicely interlaced in a long plait. She was preparing food, in the kitchen. Cutting up fresh fruits, washing them before placing them in a bowl. And repeating the same process.

Calum walked around the kitchen island, hoping she'd take a glance of him. But she didn't. Even when he faked a very exaggerated cough.

"Good morning," he finally opened his mouth.

Her large brown eyes travel up, and her smile widens.

It was her eyes that made Calum feel appreciated. They held such strength, and peace that it intrigued him.

"I'm sorry for the way I foolishly acted last night—"

He didn't finish his apology, as he could feel her slum fatigue arms hugging his waist. She was a small woman, as her head laid on his chest.

"Don't apologise to me, grandson." she smiled looking up at him.

The wrinkles on her face, stretched even more as her smile kept widening on her face.

Grandson.

"You're my grandmother?" His voice sounding ecstatic of the new found news.

He felt a rush of excitement blossoming in his body. As the crinkles beside his eyes were becoming more visible. His cheeks getting chubbier and chubbier, knowing he was hugging his grandmother.

It wasn't awkward at all. It didn't matter to him. He just felt joy. All he did was hug her back as soon as she nodded her head.

Her body was warm, and it gave him a sort of realisation. The familiar smell of vanilla and mint lingering around her clothes. The pendent around her bracelet that engraved a letter 'C'.

This was not the first time they've met.

"It's so nice to see you again," she laughed, as they continued to hold each others embrace.

At this moment, so many old memories started to wash through his head. He could only slightly remember the time when he was at his fourth birthday party. Michael and him at the backyard chasing each other with their $2 dollar shop water guns. Then suddenly being interrupted by his mum telling them to come inside, to meet his grandparents.

"It's nice to see you too, Nan." He whispered the old nickname, that fell out of his lips.

Once they disconnected their little hugging reunion, Calum couldn't take his smile off his face.

"Let's go, come meet everyone," she said.
