Annoyingly in Love
Chapter 3
Toby
As days went past, Riley grew more paranoid about my presence. Of course, I enjoyed scaring her now and then even though that wasn't the goal. Getting along with her wasn't very easy, and I didn't plan on doing so.
"Hey Riley." I chimed, throwing myself on top of the said girl who was comfortably laying in bed writing who knows what in that damned journal. Riley gasped, and I could tell she was surprised of my sudden jump.
"Get off!" She cried. I forced my weight on her the more she struggled.
"Nah. You're pretty comfortable." I smiled at her.
She rolled her brown eyes and pushed me off. I laid beside her and snaked my fingers into a piece of her crimson hair, tugging it while she wrote away in her book uncomfortably.
She huffed, clearly frustrated. "Can you stop!?" She snapped while smacking my face with her hand. She stood up and placed the book on the nightstand beside her bed.
I huffed and followed behind her as we strided downstairs to meet Tim downstairs.
Tim grinned and placed his mask over his face. "Great news! You guys are gonna do the mission. On the other hand, Brian and I are only going to supervise you in case you guys... Screw up."
My mouth hung open in shock under my mouth guard, and I felt Riley having the same exact expression as I did.
"Oh hell no!" Riley snapped. "How are we supposed to work together even if we don't get along?!"
For a second I agreed with Riley. "Exactly! Why would we work together?!"
Tim smiled under his mask, "Well, you guys don't get along but apparently you're agreeing on something. Besides, He wants you guys to get along."
Riley's eye twitched, she crossed her arms. "For what?! So we can work better? Why are we even his Proxies?!" She rolled her eyes and placed her hand on her hip, "Yeah, no, forget I ever said anything let's just go."
The road was seemingly endlessly, and very quiet. I placed my feet up on the seat and kicked Riley, having her shove my feet away. Heh, making her agitated was funny. Kind of playing with a guinea pig making it squeal and annoyed.
Once we finally arrived to a clean house, out stood Tim and Brian watching us. Tim popped a cigarette and watched us.
"Well? What are you guys waiting for? Go get the teenage girl up in there. We heard she was using the Operator's name for a murder." Riley and I made one final glance, hesitating, before finally going in for the kill.
Riley knelt by what seemed to be the living room window, and peeked in. I rolled my eyes, and searched the place for any alarms. Riley strided her way to the door and began picking the lock, managing to open the door.
I shoved her out the way before entering hearing her scoff with irritation, already picking at her temper.
Swiftly moving in Riley headed straight for our victim.
"Riley!" I snapped quietly, startling her.
Jumping she furrowed her eyebrows at me, and punched my arm. "Can you not be the annoying asshole you are for at least ten minutes?!"
I stared at her, "Can you not be the Princess you are, like, ever?"
"Oh my god... Me?! A Princess? Please! I'm more like a slave than a Princess darling, stop being a brat! At least I take this crap seriously!" She snapped at me.
I laughed before speaking, "Please! You only do this to get more luck or whatever to relieve all that tension and paranoia you have inside! All because little miss Tough Cookie rejected her tendencies."
"Ugh! Shut up already!"
"Make me."
With that I set her off, she lunged herself at me like a couple days back, except I managed to grab a hold of her arms and keep her in place.
"Now if you weren't clueless you would've known that fighting while on a mission isn't ideal." I shoved her back, and accidentally have her bump into a table, dropping a vase.
We stared wide eyed at each other, before the teenage girl's voice called out.
"Dad?"
In a swift motion I opened the door and Riley followed behind. "Start the truck! I yelled."
I turned back to Riley and caught her being distracted by the voice she calls Apollo talking to her.
"Come on Riley, not now!" I growled. Quickly I picked her up and ran to the truck throwing her into the trunk and she struggled, and whacked me on the face; however, I managed to jump in as soon as Tim took off.
"You suck at this!" I insulted.
Riley chuckled, "And you suck dick," she giggled at her own joke.
I growled under my breathe, "And you swallow."
Riley chuckled more, "Hahah nice one!" She exclaimed. Confusion overwhelmed my brain.
"Why are you laughing? I thought we were supposed to hate each other." I complained.
Riley gave me a confused look, "Well, I'm actually in a better mood after a mission... Or at least, in this case, an attempt."
I tilted my head and leaned forward dragging her to me by the hair. I held her head tightly and basically scuffled her crimson colored hair with my fist.
Squealing she struggling, under my arms. "Toby stop! Why do you always have to sour my mood?!" Riley whined.
I let her go and she sat up, huffing. I stared at her hair before laughing loudly. Riley's lips formed into a pout, "You're so annoying!"
With that she leaned on the edge and crossed her arms, later being distracted by the stars.
I relaxed in my spot and closed my eyes staring down while the truck moved, hoping to get home soon.
