Annoyingly in Love

Chapter 4

Toby

I looked out the window looking at the snow fall exceedingly slow. I squinted slightly recognizing a head full of red hair. I huffed and turned away from the window feeling extremely bored. Timothy wasn’t here, and Brian was with him doing who knows what with each other. I shivered at the thought of Tim and Brian dating.

“Ew…” I muttered to myself cringing. I wasn’t against them being the same gender, but, those two together? Nope! I was glad they weren’t either way; I know for a fact that they would have the same reaction as I would.

Wandering to the kitchen I opened the fridge examining a full fridge of nothing. Well, when I mean nothing, nothing I actually want to eat. Groaning in frustration I shut the fridge and went back to the living room. No one was home. Jeff the chef and No Eye Jack had left along with Sally to attend their non-proxy duties, therefore leaving me alone with one of the people I despised the most.

        Riley Synclair Alexander.

An idea popped into my head, and a smile grew under my mask. I scurried upstairs and stopped at the third door to the left. I wrapped my hand around the golden door knob turning it to find out it’s…

Locked! Yay good for me! Ha.

        Note on the sarcasm.

I groaned and ran my fingers through my hair. I guess I’ll have to bust into the room at night. Thus this leaving me to entertain myself with Riley. I shrugged to myself and absconded to deal with Riley. I opened the door silently and huddled outside, finding Riley sitting on a bloodied red sled admiring the snow. She looked calm and I was absolutely regretting not thinking of this plan before!

I slowly crept over to her grinning to myself, glad that she was too entertained by Apollo and the snow. I inched closer and in a swift motion got a handful of her red hair and yanked it, snapping her from the gaze.

“Hey Princess!” I greeted with a grin.

Riley flailed and I pulled her into a headlock, “Toby! Let go!” She cried while trying to pry herself off of me.

My grin grew as I tugged on her hair more, “You know you like it,” I teased and finally let her go.

As she tore apart, she fixed her hair in agitation. “Please! I completely despise you!”

I furrowed my eyebrows, “Despise? Princess, I bet you get off on the thought of me,” I winked at her, while she gave me a disgusted look.

“Um, you wish.” She simply replied and wandered inside.

I huffed and followed her, “Where ya going?”

Riley glanced at me from the staircase, “Where else?” she snapped.

I clenched my fists not wanted to start a brawl with her sass. “That havoc of yours you call a room?” I rolled my eyes.

She smiled sarcastically, “It's the complete opposite of havoc.” Riley went to her room as I quickly followed behind her like some kind of slave. Of course, what else could I do? It was boring as hell here. I really needed to get a hobby of some sort.

Riley pulled out her crowbar from under her pillow and picked up the gas mask on her nightstand. She pulled it over her head, then opened the frosted window.

Climbing out of the window she turned to me, “Au revoir mon ami.”

I rolled my eyes and stared at her, “You’re seriously gonna leave me alone, here, in this boring old cabin we use as shelter?”

Riley rolled her eyes and hesitatingly replied in a forced robotic manner, “Hey Toby, do you wanna come along?” she stared at me with annoyance.

I grinned, “What?! Oh I feel so honored! Me and you, on an adventure!” Her gaze turned into that of an un-amused one with confusion.

“Just imagine it already! The sun setting, and that little voice in your head tells you to kiss the handsome boy! You lean in for a kiss and- I slam your head into the snow because that’s fucking weird.” I finished feeling accomplished and proud.

Riley stared at me clearly not entertained, “Are you coming or not?”

I shrugged and nodded, “Yeah. Why not I guess,” I said as I climbed through the window.

Man, either this day was gonna be fun, or a living hell with the person whose guts I hate the most. Well, second to first. Timothy is first, and always will be.
