I just realized this.
L has ADHD, or Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, it is a minor form but it looks to be present.
It's SO clear though!
*He's constantly moving- sitting weirdly, moving his feet.
* Many people with ADHD, myself included, feel calmed or relaxed after eating sugary foods or drinks. L is probably using this to his advantage! Think about it! He has to remain calm in order to solve the case, and not be impulsive about the investigation. (Impulsiveness is a symptom of ADHD, such as you telling someone, "Hey the stove is hot, don't touch it!", they'll touch it.)
I know this was random, but who cares! Anime headcanons are awesome!
