I stepped through the large doors of Eddie's cousins beautifully decorated mansion - no - castle.

"Wow" I gasped taking in the sight. The high ceiling was held up by large golden columns with red and green garlands rapped around them.

The floors were a white-grey smooth marble, and they were covered with people conversing, dancing, drinking,...

And in the middle of the room, under a huge chandelier that looked to be made of real diamonds, was the largest Christmas tree I had ever seen in my entire life.

"Impressive, right?" Eddie asked coming to stand beside me.

"How," I almost whispered, "did they get that through the front door?"

Eddie sighed, a smile still tugging at his lips. "I'll be honest, I don't know."

I laughed a sigh. "This is very impressive," I finally pryed my eyes away from the fully decorated tree to look at Eddie, who handed me a glass of champagne.

I kicked off the heels that were torturing my feet and closed the front door behind me. The smile from earlier still hasn't faded from my face as I relived the events from earlier : the dancing, the talking, laughing, the delicious food, Eddie's overly kind family-

"Iris!" I was called out of my daydream. "You alive in there?!"

"Dad! I - yeah - sorry-" I stammered.

Dad smirked. I hate it when he gives me that stupid knowing smirk!

"So," he started, his voice a bit higher than usual "meet anyone. . Special at Madelyn's party?"

I stared for a moment, not understanding, but then I remembered I had told dad my co-worker had invited me to her Christmas party - "Oh! I - I - no, no." I smiled nervously. I was never the best liar, though, and I cursed myself in my mind because I knew he saw right through it.

He just nodded and walked off.

DECEMBER 25, 2020

It was snowing fairly heavily adding another layer of fluffy white snow onto the ground outside of S.T.A.R. Labs, where Barry had recently been moved to from the hospital.

I took my normal seat across from where Barry lay, and began to talk to him.

"Hey, Barry," I said quietly. "it's Iris. . I don't know if you can hear me, but, I hope you can because," I took in a sharp breath. "I really, really need you to wake up." My voice started to crack.

"So, like," I decided to change the subject, still hoping he could hear me, to the previous days. "Detective pretty boy came into Jitters, and he asked me out, and I actually said yes," I chuckled. "See, I do dumb things like that when you're not around."

I listened to the heart monitor beeping for a moment before I spoke again.

"And the house is really quiet without you," tears started running down my face as I choked down sobs. "I know that the reason you came to live with us was. . awful. . but Barry, you made it home again. You made us a family again. We need you. I need you."

I reached down to put my hand on top of his, but when my fingers were a centimeter away, I felt a jolt of electricity shock through my body. My head snapped up, hope glimmering in my eyes, but Barry didn't wake up.

But I knew he would soon. That hope made today the best worst Christmas.

A/N : Yep, don't really know. Short chapter, only 570 something words, sorry :( It's not that early, seriously, it's only April, only eight months away! I will try so hard to get the next chapter in sooner than 18,000 years. Anyway, comment & rate because you love Iris, and you love Barry, and you love me, and you hate how in Arrow it takes place in 2015 but in Flash it's 2020!<3
