And so the days went on. It never got easier. The day's became weeks. The weeks became months. So far it's been about eight months and I'm starting to doubt Barry will ever wake up. I've stopped visiting him at S.T.A.R. Labs, because it makes me too sad and scared that I'll never see him open his eyes ever again. Instead I've distracted myself with other things, like work, and friends, and Eddie.
A smile comes to my face when I think of him. His bright smile, his glowing blue eyes, his charming personality,...
After Christmas, me and Eddie kept getting together. He asked me out many times, and I accepted, all the time. I think of him as my boyfriend, but he's never called me his girlfriend, and so I won't risk what I may regret. But we have something, and that something to me is everything.

JITTERS CAFE
It was a busy afternoon at Jitters. It was packed at every table."Thanks," a man said as I refilled his cup. "Sure thing," I smiled back, then going to refill another lady's cup as she thanked me.
I set the coffee pot down and looked up outside at the busy streets when something - someone caught my eye. I froze for a moment of utter disbelief as they opened the door and slowly stepped inside, smiling at me.
It was Barry!
"Oh my god," I said through my hands which had been brought over my mouth and ran to him, hugging him tightly. "You're awake!" I exclaimed when I let go, one of my hands still on his arm. "Why didn't S.T.A.R. Labs call?!"
"I just woke up!" He half-laughed. Hearing his voice again after nine months was the best sound in the world.
"Should you even be on your feet?" I asked, concerned.
"Iris," he said, and no, that was the best sound in the world. Hearing him say my name again. "I'm okay!"
But then my smile fell. "I watched you die, Barry. ." The words slipped out before I could stop them. Barry nodded sadly. "You kept dying, your heart kept. . Stopping."
I fought to keep down the tears when he took my hand and put it on his chest. "It's still beating," he smiled.
"Just really fast," I said. And it was true, his heartbeat was going as if he had just run a marathon.
I jumped as there was a sudden crash behind me. I turned to see Tracey cleaning up broken pieces of mugs and puddles of coffee.
"You okay, Tracey?" I asked helpfully.
"Yeah I got it," she smiled awkwardly back.
I turned back to Barry, who smiled back. "My dad is gonna be so happy to see you!" He nodded. "Let me go get my stuff!"

CENTRAL CITY POLICE STATION"You scared the hell out of us, kid!" Dad said as he hugged Barry.
"Yep, that was quite the nap you took there, baby face." Another officer said. "And you still look twelve."
"You look okay," dad started seriously. "Are you really?"
Barry nodded and answered, "Yeah."
"Detective West, we've got a 5.15 in progress at Gold City bank, two dead." A woman officer said. "Storm's really picking up on the south side, I'd grab your rain gear."
"Sorry, Barry, I've gotta run," dad said grabbing his coat and heading out.
"Do you need my help?" Barry asked him.
"No, you take it easy. There'll be plenty of work for you to do once you've settled in." He said seriously. "Let's go partner!" He called over his shoulder.
Eddie came over. I put on my best annoyed look. I couldn't let anyone in my dad's workplace know about me and Eddie, or they'd surely tell him. "Hey Allen," Eddie said smiling. "Glad to see you!"
Barry smiled a little. "Thanks Eddie."
"Hey Iris," Eddie said softly at me.
"Detective," I started seriously, "you should go, my dad doesn't like to be kept waiting."
He nodded with a weak smile. "Glad you're back," he said smiling at Barry, then took off after Dad.
Barry turned around to see him leave when his eyes landed on a glass container that held a photograph of Dads old partner, Detective Chyre. It had a gold bar engraved with "never forgotten at the top of it, and Chyre's name at the bottom.
"The night of the explosion, Clyde Mardon shot and killed Chyre. Mardon and his brother died trying to escape, their plane crashed." I explained.
"Iris," an officer behind me called. "Could I see you for a minute?"
He held a file in his hand, and opened it when I came over. "Do you think you could bring these home with you for your dad to sign? I don't mean to bother you, it's just that this needs to be mailed into the heads office tonight."
"Yeah, of course!" He handed me the file saying thanks.
"SCREW YOU!" Yelled someone behind me. I turned to see two officers dragging away a raggy criminal. Then I looked at Barry, who looked like he may be sick.
"You alright?" I asked him, concernedly. "F - fine," he said, but his voice shook. "I - I just need some air, I'll call you tonight, okay?" He said, walking quickly out.
I looked after him, confused. He looked like he had just murdered someone and then seen their ghost come back to get revenge. I hope he's okay.
A/N : ITS FINALLY HERE!!!! When I said I'd try to get this in earlier I meant it. . ;-;
