Isabella POV

It's been two days since I've seen Christopher or spoken to him. Two nights since he caught me in the garage. And four days since I've gone missing.

It was now the new year; 2016. Happy fucking new year. No parents, no siblings and no friends. Just me and my hell of a kidnapper.

But I guess I should appreciate this new freedom right? Embrace it. Christopher hasn't been bothering me and I've been able to freely roam around. I been visiting the library a lot, trying to get a feel of this place and figure out who Christopher is.

The mansion seems less populated too. Much more empty. Stella tells me it's because the rest of the members have returned to their rightful homes, this is how it always is. Just Christopher and his close friends. I guess that explains the presence of those other people. They tried talking to me whilst I was roaming around but I simply ignored them. If they don't have the power to help me escape, what use are they.

I guess I should have made use of this freedom to call my parents. But I have this odd feeling where I'm being watched. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but you know carelessness is what bought me here.

--------

Boredom bought me to the game room where I took a interest in playing GTA. Video games can be quite fun, more satisfying when you win.

"Playing with someone else can actually be more fun" I heard a sudden voice behind me.

I turned around, distracting my attention from the game and making me loose. And there I saw a guy, maybe my age or a bit older with brown hair and eyes. Your typical American dude.

"And who might you be?" I asked with a rather hostile tone.

"I'm Jacob, Chris's best friend" he perched up, offering his hand to shake on.

I looked at his hand, not bothering to hide my scowl "So you're the guy who helped him kidnap me"

"Yes...but I'm also the guy who convinced him to give your more freedom" he said nervously. Ahhh, that explains my current freedom.

"So are you expecting a thank you of some sort? Because you won't find one from me" I scoffed.

"No, I just simply wanted to give you some company. It's not good to spend so much time alone"

"Well thanks but I prefer to maintain a distance from my kidnappers"

"Chris did warn me that you are quite the difficult person"

"What did you expect? A good little girl that does as she is told?" I question, crossing my arms and throwing the video game remote on the game chair.

"And now look, you made me loose the game" I said annoyed, turning my full body towards Jacob.

"If you could multi-task, meaning talking to me and playing the game, you wouldn't have lost" he teased, almost in a singing voice with a smirk plastered on his face.

"Okay now that you have my full, undivided attention, what do you want Jacob" I asked, putting particular emphasis on his name.

"I'm honoured to have your attention" I rolled my eyes at his playful yet cheery character. It was quite annoying "I just came to invite you down to dinner to join the rest of us"

"Us?"

"Yes, me and the rest of our friends. You've been having your meals alone, why don't you come join us for a change?" He offered, with a confident smile. Almost treating me like a troubled anti-social kid.

"No thanks. Why don't you let me go back home for a change?" I retaliated.

He sighed. "Come on, we're not that bad. You might actually like us" he continued, pestering me.

"If I come, would you let me have a phone call with my family?" I asked, curious.

"I will try my best to persuade Christopher"

"No. I want a definite answer"

"I'm not at liberty to give you a definite answer"

"Then you can leave now"

"Not until you agree to give us a chance and join us for dinner"

"Look. Don't try to be my friend because you are not my friend. I don't need your sympathy or help or whatever. All I want is to get out of here and if you can't help me do that, then leave" I said frustrated. Talking to these people just reminds me of my situation and it just frustrates me more. It angers me and removed all my inner peace. And that's the reason why I isolate myself in the game room and library. It's a temporary distraction, helping me to overcome time and deal with this fucking frustration. But of course, they don't understand that.

"Isabella please. You're not doing much to help yourself. We're not out there to get you, in fact we want to be your friend and give you help. Just please give us a chance" he pleaded.

"If you want to help me, let me escape"

"We can't do that, your Christopher's mate and -"

"I'm his what?" I interrupted.

"His err friend. Your his companion, his err maid?" He said nervously, rubbing the back of his head.

"No that's not what you said. You said I'm his mate. What the hell is that? Is that like American slang for friend? Because I'm pretty sure the Australians use that?" I interrogated.

"Yeah you're right. Your his friend. That's what I meant" he chuckled curiously. What was his problem. It's like he let out an unspoken secret that was forbidden.

"What's wrong with you? Why do you take the word mate so seriously? I heard Christopher use it in a series tone and I'm pretty sure it doesn't just mean friend to you. Because the pair of certainly aren't friends since our feelings of hatred is mutual"

"Christopher doesn't hate you! You're just misunderstanding him" he said, slightly defensive and backing his friend straight way. Alright, I'll give him credit for loyalty.

"Whatever. I know the word mate means something more to you. What does it really mean?" I asked curious.

"Nothing it just means friend. You are really overthinking it Isabella. I think you are paranoid. I understand this experience of kidnapping and being isolated can be quite confusing. It's messing with you and it can get worse. So you need to come down and be in need of company, we can help you" he said reassuringly. He was right, I was confused and I didn't know what the hell was going on.

Wait a minute

"I know what you're doing. You're trying to manipulate me, you want me to think I'm crazy but I'm not. I don't need help and stop trying to justify this kidnapping. The fact is I was kidnapped and you guys are keeping me here with the leverage of my family. That's wrong and it's criminal behaviour. I don't know what game you think your playing but I know this mate thing is something sensitive and you clearly aren't telling me. I'm not really here for the sake of tradition am I? I'm here for some other reason aren't I?"

He opened his mouth to speak but I interrupted him again

"Save it. Save your manipulation and lies for Christopher. I had enough of it. I don't know what I'm doing here but I can promise one thing, I won't be here forever" and with that promise I walked out the door, ignoring all his attempts to talk to me.

Just a little while longer. I just need to cling on to that vow and promise.

Just a little faith and hope and I can get out of here.

I will.
