After a couple of weeks, it seemed me and Morgan was heading towards a solid beginning to a relationship. We texted each other every day and sometimes he would randomly pop round and stay the night. Today, the texting was at a minimum because myself and Dolly was helping Newt move.
The dirty one bedroom, bathroom at the end of the hall, was to much of a reminder of what went on in these walls. The carpet had become worn and sticky which was very unpleasant, the stickiness always seemed to seep into my shoes and make my socks or tights wet, the bed was broken and the mattress was well past its prime. The walls were a sad shade of green, although Newt claimed they were an off white when he moved in. I never knew how Newt could live here with the horrible state of the room and the loud obnoxious neighbours but maybe that was because my home was my safe haven whereas Newt's flat was primarily used for taking drugs in. He was moving to a nice two bedroom flat, including a bathroom and functioning kitchen. "Doll easy with those boxes! My clothes are the only thing moving with me!" Newt had already brought a new sofa, TV, bed, kitchen utensils, a micro wave etc.
The thing with Newt is he isn't very sentimental, all his personal things were still at his parents house. He claimed he never needed them but both me and Dolly knew they would be making an appearance in his new flat. While Dolly was rolling her eyes at Newt I felt my phone vibrate I didn't want to check it because we had to move 20 boxes of clothing, 4 boxes of just hats, 2 boxes of shoes, and 5 boxes of other (such as belts, underwear etc). We had a deadline of 5pm because the owner wanted the room deep cleaned and re decorated and so fair it looked like we wasn't going to meet it. Then Morgan appeared in the room, "hey Newt, Dolly, I did knock but no one answered...I even texted but someone didn't check it." He glared at me but then broke out into a smile. It was now I checked my phone
Morgan: Emily I'm at the door, open and let me in.
Newt smiled too, "this is great with you here we shift these boxes quicker. Em why didn't you bring your boyfriend sooner?" I didn't answer instead I picked up three boxes walked down three flights of stairs and placed the boxes in the back of Dolly's mother's car. Dolly and her mother have grown so much closer which is always nice to see and hear about but sometimes it makes me realise how much I really do miss my mother. I stacked the three boxes up against the furthest seat away, Newt was moving on, we all were.
At 4:30pm Newt put the last box in the car. "Thanks for helping guys. Really appreciate it." Dolly and Newt got into the car and drove off leaving me and Morgan, for some reason I couldn't look at him. I kept trying to look at him but a force kept pulling my eyes back to the floor, the only part of him I could see was his feet. We walked to the bus stop which was only five minutes down the road and when I got full control over my eyes again Morgan was gone. He had vanished. I looked around the street to see if I could find him walking off but he was nowhere, there was nowhere to find on this street it was very open and very long which left me wondering if this is what he meant by being mysterious. If this is what he meant I don't like it and felt bad for suggesting it. The bus came almost immediately, I was the only person on it which felt weird because it was still quite early.
The bus ride was almost silent apart from the bus driver coughing a couple of times. As soon as the coughing got louder it suddenly stopped. The bus picked up speed, this sent a deep rush of panic inside me, we went over a red light cars swerved to avoid the bus. Did he forget I was on the bus? "Driver!" I heard a thud as we ran over some traffic cones. I stood up and walked towards the drivers cab, the driver was lying over the wheel. "Driver?" The panic rose and became clear in my voice. I had to get him out so I could take control of the wheel, again I heard my mother's voice "Honey go sit back down get somewhere safe." But there was no where to sit that would be safe, looking at the windshield I saw men waving their arms shouting to stop the bus. I didn't know what to do, the driver was unresponsive and I couldn't get into the cab. I had tried to open it by putting my hand in the gap of the plastic glass, I have seen drivers do this before when they were changing over but now with the panic causing my hands to shake almost uncontrollably I couldn't find the handle. When that didn't work I tried to grab the wheel but grabbing the wheel was to far and anyway what I really needed was the brake. I looked out the windshield again, this was a head on collision, the speed we was going we would hit it in seconds. "The driver is dead Emily. Go to the back of the bus baby. Listen to mother." I was stuck to the spot which I stood, time seemed to stop and I gathered my senses and tried to run to the back of the bus. I didn't quite make it to the back. After I heard the impact I was forced forward and I banged my head on the seat.
After that I went completely blank. My world stopped spinning.
