I would say I was closer to Newt than Dolly he was like an older brother whereas Dolly just felt like a friend. Even though we didn't officially become friends till I was 18 I had met him when I was 14 at that time I didn't really think much of him Newt was 16 he had his own friends who had a reputation for being maniacs and even then he was known as Newt. Mother told me never to play with him, never get to close to him or his friends because she like many other mothers were terrified of what he could do to a young girl. In those days his hair was much longer reaching down to his shoulders but he still wore the hat. We all knew about his brother it had been on the news, in the newspapers, signs were put in windows and Newt was outcasted. Parents felt like his mind had been really badly damaged asking what would that do to a young man's mind but no one ever asked him how he felt. Then I never thought we would ever be friends but when we met properly when I was 18 he didn't seem dangerous he was kind and funny it was like everything I was told and thought to be true about him was wrong. At the same time we met Dolly. Neither of us knew her but at the same time we felt like she needed looking after and to this day I still get that vibe from her. She was homeless and living in a shelter but she didn't let it get her down as we all started hanging out more she started sleeping on Newt's sofa it was better than nothing, I felt guilty most of the time because I had a spare bedroom but it was my mother's so I never mentioned it. They knew where I lived they dropped me off there enough times but I never let them in.
Now I was on my way to the hospital with the Devil driving to visit Newt and to take care of Dolly.
At the hospital we got passed around, it seemed no one knew where Newt was and because I didn't know his really name that didn't really help. Morgan grabbed my gloved hand and took straight to him. Morgan liked to pick moments when he decided to help and it infuriated me. We found Dolly crying quietly next to the bed which held a sleeping Newt. I picked up the clipboard that was attached to the end of his bed considering what happened he was lucky it looked like he would be okay. Dolly grabbed me and held me tighter than she ever did before with the bump in the way it made me feel a little uncomfortable but I hugged her back. Morgan stood at a distance it seemed as if he had just been passing and happened to look in. Dolly let go and held my hands, she started laughing through the tears, "Em it's really not that cold is it?"
"My hands were cold that's all Dolly." Morgan came closer and stood behind me. "Hi Morgan."
"Hello Dolly." She hugged Morgan as well and he looked really uneasy with it but he put one arm around her, I went over to Newt who was still asleep I leaned in and whispered in his ear "you're not going anyway", I don't know whether I said it for his or my benefit but he would be fine. Dolly came and stood by me and brushed a lock of his hair off his face, she smiled at him. Something squeezed my heart a little tighter for it just to be sorrow, I had to grab the side of the bed before I dropped I felt so light headed my chest felt like it was on fire. I sat down I couldn't breathe, everything felt so distance I felt like I wasn't there at all I wasn't sitting next to Newt I was somewhere else. Morgan came to my side when I fainted I could hear his voice lightly it was like watching him and the black haired man again it all sounded like I was underwater. My eyes travelled over to Newt and standing the opposite side I saw the black haired man and I know Morgan saw him too but then everything went black.
When I woke up I was still in the hospital I started freaking out because the last thing I saw was the man with the black hair. I needed to know who he was and the only person I could ask was Morgan. I went to stand up but the doctor pushed me gently back onto the bed "Just rest for a moment Miss, you fainted." He continued to tell me I was just really dehydrated and gave me a glass of water, Morgan sitting next to me which was unusual as he likes to hang out in doorways. He didn't say anything about the black haired man instead he just told me Newt was still asleep and he made Dolly stay with him because i was just a little lightheaded. I was dying to mention the look on his face when he saw the same thing he was now ignoring but we had both saw but I knew he would never answer me. He would never give me a straight answer.
