"So this is revenge?"
Morgan nodded. His face looked so sorrowful, it was hard to look at without my heart breaking a little.
"But it wasn't your fault! You only wanted to help him."
"He only went to Elizabeth because we fought, if I had kept my mouth shut it would have never have happened. He would have married her and they would have had a good life."
I felt for David I really did but this brother feud was involving my unborn child.
"So do you think he wants to kill me? Or kill our boy? Or both of us?"
His eyes turned hard as he heard the words but softened when he answered.
"I honestly don't know Emily, I took his world away from him. It would seem logical that he would kill you both."
"Morgan that is not logical that's insane! I wasn't even a thought when she died!"
"As I said before he is here because of me."
I stood up and got some water from the sink in the kitchen. My phone rang and the screen said it was an unknown caller before I answered Morgan was at my side pulling the phone out of my hands and put the phone on loudspeaker before answering.
"Hello?"
"Ah, Hello Brother. What's wrong Emily can't answer the phone for herself?"
"Don't you worry about Emily."
"Brother it is not me who should be worrying about her."
"David, this is not about me it's about you and Morgan."
"Ah! She finally speaks! No, you are right Emily it is about me and my brother just think of yourself as collateral damage."
"How dare you!"
"Calm down Emily. It's not good for the baby."
"Don't patronise me David!"
"Morgan speak to your female."
"David look I get why you are being a prick, a vile prick but it's not my fault."
"Oh so you told her what you did."
"He didn't do anything but try to help you!"
"Look David this has to end and it will not be with Emily or the child's death. It will end in yours."
"Ah there's the spark back, look at him Emily is his eyes flaming? Does he frighten you?"
"No he doesn't. He seems to be the only one talking sense."
And with that I pressed the end call button and hugged Morgan. It felt so peaceful being in his arms. It felt so natural. He had opened up to me, I felt like I understood the situation, and most importantly even with David's threats I felt protected. He would protect us both. Me and my child was safe as long as Morgan was here.

Weeks passed and everything seemed fine. I was bigger but closer to having our boy, Dolly and her mother patched things up and was seeing each other regularly, Newt had got a promotion at his job, and Morgan had finished our son's room. It was beautiful. It was peaceful. Neither of us had heard anything off David. He didn't feel like a constant threat, Morgan hadn't left my side since the day David came over. We was sitting in the living room watching the news when my phone received a text,
Dolly: "Hey babe, we are coming over for a small baby shower!"
Emily: "Really?"
Dolly: "Think of it as a small meeting of friends. We miss you!"
Emily: "Oh fine!"
Morgan looked at me,
"Dolly and Newt are coming over for a baby shower."
He smiled and leaned deeper into his seat, I got up and started making sandwiches.
"Emily what are you doing?"
"Making sandwiches, I think it would just look better if I made food."
"Oh Emily."
He put his arms around my belly and put his head on my shoulder watching me. He seemed so happy being with me. I sighed happily. I lay the sandwiches on a large plate and put them in the middle of the table. Dolly and Newt came in and tried to hug me,
"Sweet lord you clearly have swallowed a planet!"
"Here Em, we got you a little something."
They passed me a decorative blue bag, I opened it and pulled out a baby grow that said "I love my mommy" Newt looked at Morgan, shrugged and said
"Sorry Daddy."
Morgan laughed.
"It's fine Newt, really it is."
I took Dolly and Newt to see the room designed for our son. Dolly gasped.
"Your mother's room?"
"Well I think she would be happy it's been gutted out for her grandchild."
"Oh Em."
She attempted to hug me again, and we bother laughed at the attempt. Morgan stepped into the room and looked at Dolly and said,
"You need longer arms."
They left at six in the afternoon leaving me very tired. I cleaned the rest of the sandwiches away and washed up, Morgan watched and then helped dry the plates. I was so thankful to have him here considering where we was when I found out I was pregnant. I half expected to raise our boy on my own but he stayed.
"What do you think about the name Robert?"
"Robert?"
"Yeah, it's a strong name don't you think?"
"It's an old name."
"So? You're an old guy yourself."
He gently pushed my shoulder and we laughed. It felt so easy but in the back of my mind I always thought about David and what he was capable of. My life was never easy and I didn't expect that to change. I felt immense sympathy for him considering he lost the love of his life, but he was threatening my life and the life of my boy. The brothers had been at war with each other for so long and it wasn't going to end any time soon. That night I dreamed of gun shots and fire. I woke early and looked at Morgan's sleeping face, he looked peaceful which is something considering everything he has saw and done. I went downstairs and sat in the kitchen. It was quiet. I heard Morgan shuffling to the bathroom upstairs and decided to make a cup of tea and wait to see if he joins me, he did.
"Why are you up this early?"
"Nightmares."
He sat opposite me and put his hands over mine.
"I'm going to have to leave to do some work."
"Thanks fine Morgan."
"He won't bother you. I can't sense him."
I nodded and sipped my tea.
"I won't be gone long I promise."
He left and I started doing household chores, it had become difficult to do because of my bump but it was better than doing nothing. I started a load of washing and then cleaned the bathroom. I had my music playing so I didn't hear the knocking at the kitchen door. When I did hear it I went to answer it but Dolly burst in almost hyperventilating,
"Dolly what is it?"
"There was a man! A man! He broke into our place!"
"What?"
"I was in the living room and he burst in! He...he....he."
Dolly started crying, I got her a glass of water and text Newt.
Emily: "Newt, Dolly just came over and said there has been a break in at your place."
Dolly drank the water and calmed down a little bit.
"Okay Dolly now tell me what happened."
She took a big breath in and looked me in the eyes, I could see tears forming in her green eyes.
"I was sitting in the living room, Newt had just left for work. This man he just burst into the room."
"What did he look like?"
"He was tall, had black hair and black eyes."
David.
Dolly continued,
"He came in forcing me back onto the sofa and started screaming in my face telling me to get you over to the house. I was so scared! I'm still scared, look I'm shaking!"
"Its okay Dolly. How did you get away?"
"He held my arms down but not my legs I kicked him where it hurts and ran."
"And you ran straight here?"
"Yes. I didn't know where to go."
"It's okay."
I texted Morgan telling him everything Dolly had told me while she slept on my sofa. She had calmed down significantly since she first arrived.
Morgan: "I will be home soon, I will stop off at Dolly's first."
I woke Dolly up after half an hour and told her that Morgan will do to her flat and see what David had done and if he was still there. I made her a cup of tea and we waiting for Morgan to get back. Newt was informed that Dolly was safe and I told him to stay at work because there was nothing he could do. Morgan came home and took Dolly back telling her it was completely safe and that the Police are coming to install an alarm. When he came back he told me David didn't even trash the house, he just broke the door and after Dolly fought back he left. It seemed so strange.
"Why would he go after Dolly?"
"You get at you, you heard what she said, he wanted you to go to hers so he would have you."
"But why would he just leave?"
"I don't know."
"He wants to hurt you but for the mean time he can hurt me."
I put my head in my hands and shook my head.
"I put some protection on them just like I did this house. They will be fine."
"I just want to go to bed Morgan."
"Okay Emily."
I didn't know if David was waiting for me to join him in a dream, or if I was just going to have a simple nightmare. I didn't care. He may think of me as collateral damage but my friends are not.
