"Harry get in here right now!"
Harry was five years old today and we had threw him a party but had spent most of his birthday siting in the garden. Morgan pulled me back into the house and kissed my nose,
"Emily, little Wolf will come in when he wants to."
He looked at Newt and Newt rolled his eyes.
"Okay I will go talk to him. He likes his fun uncle."
"You're his only uncle."
Morgan's smile faulted at this, I rubbed his back as a way of apologising. Lauren, Newt's wife, came over to me and said,
"How did you cope with being pregnant, Newt said you were about five times as big as me and I'm struggling."
"Lauren you are only three months pregnant by the end you will be a professional."
When Newt first brought Lauren here we all decided it would be best for her if she never found out the true identity of Morgan, or anything that had happened. We never spoke of Dolly or David, but we thought about them. Newt came back into the house with Wolf on his back both were smiling and giggling. If myself or Morgan couldn't get through to Harry, Newt always knew how to, it was his gift.
Wolf had my hair and his father's eyes, and he was as pale as the both of us. He looked like a smaller David even with my freckles covering his face. We both knew it but didn't say anything not even openly to each other but I knew he was thinking it as well. Hopefully Wolf would never know about his blood uncle and even if he was ever told I hoped it would be the best bits of David and his love Elizabeth or how he and his brother loved each other. Not how he wanted to kill Harry, or steal me, or how he kidnapped me and Harry's favourite uncle Newt.
Harry and his group of friends were all sat around the kitchen table when I lit the candles on his cake, we all sang happy birthday. Wolf looked so happy. I walked up behind him and kissed his cheek,
"Mama! Please my friends are here!"
Morgan pulled me over to him and held me in his arms,
"It's okay Harry I've got her contained, now Uncle Newt can you cut up the cake for everyone."
After the cake was shared and eaten, we played a few more party games, the kids went home just before six. Harry played with his toys while we packed away the games. Around seven thirty I put Harry to bed. He had grown so much in what seemed like seconds. I helped him into his pyjamas. After he went down to say goodnight and thank you to Newt and Lauren I tucked him into his bed. His room had changed a lot since we first decorated it, his cot had turned into a toddler bed, the rocking chair had been moved to mine and Morgan's bedroom and he has toys all over the floor. No matter how many times I had picked them up they always ended back all over the room. I didn't mind, he was a young boy he was likely to make a mess. It made my house feel like a home, a home in which I belonged. I read him a bit of one of his favourite bedtime story, the Mr men. Today's one was about Mr Happy. When I finished I asked him,
"Have you had a good day my little Wolf?"
He looked at me his eyes slightly turning brown, they did this from time to time, he gets it from his father but instead of his eyes growing a darker black they turned brown like my eyes.
"Yes Mama. I'm the happiest birthday boy ever!"
He snuggled into his blanket and I kissed his hair,
"I love you Harry. More than anything in the world."
"I love you too Mama."
"Happy birthday my little Wolf."
"Good night Mama."
I turned off the light and shut the door with a smile on my face. I went back downstairs to join the remaining people at the party; Morgan, Newt and Lauren. We all had a cup of tea with some birthday cake and after Newt and Lauren left. We all were all so happy. I cleaned the cups whilst Morgan put the crumbs of the cake in the bin, the big clean up will start tomorrow morning, a room full of small kids left an awfully big mess. Morgan went to kiss Harry goodnight, I went into our bedroom, I noticed the window was open, I must have forgotten to close it earlier, so I went to close it until I noticed something shimmer on my pillow. I turned the lamp on and everything went silent. It was Elizabeth's bracelet. Morgan walked into the room and saw what I saw, he stopped dead too. The last time either of us had saw that bracelet was when I put it back onto David's dead wrist. There was a note underneath. I picked it up with shaking hands. Morgan did not move at all. I read the note and gasped.
