Morgan was quite the whole next day. I can't understand why the nightmare I had effected him more than me. Our child was safe, it was just a dream but he would just tap my shoulder everytime I tried to convince him it was okay. David is ruining my family and there is nothing I can do about it, even when he isn't here he is still tainting us.
"Morgan?"
He just turned and looked at me, his shoulders dropped and he looked so sad.
"Tell me what is wrong?"
He sighed and stood up and walked from the sofa to me in the door frame.
"Emily...oh Emily I'm sorry."
"What are you going on about? You've done nothing wrong."
"I... Emily, David is my brother. He is here because I'm here."
Now I sighed. It was true but I couldn't hold it against Morgan, family is family. I walked to the kitchen and put my hand on the edge of the sink. I couldn't stand Morgan sulking it honestly made me mad.
"Morgan you're the fucking Devil! Stop acting like a fucking child!"
His body tensed and he squared his shoulders as if he was ready for a physical fight. I turned to fully face him.
"What do you want me to do Emily?"
"Why are you fucking asking me? Get a backbone and figure it out for yourself! You've lived without me answering your goddamn questions!"
My mobile phone started ringing, it was Dolly, I felt to angry to answer it but the ringtone made me even worse.
"Hello Dolly, this isn't really a good time."
"Why have you gone into labour?"
I heard a time of panic in her voice and Newt shouting "name the kid after me" then him saying ouch as Dolly had threw something at him,
"No just busy at the moment. At you calling about something important?"
"Oh no Em. Just fancied a quick chat while Newt gets ready to start back at work."
Again Newt added "translation being Dolly doesn't want to worry alone".
"Honey I will call you back and Newt good luck!"
I hung up before either could say a word back and put my phone on silent. I was still mad at Morgan. I put my phone in the middle of the table and faced him. He stared back at me, his pupils seemed to be pulsing as his own rage grew.
"Emily...don't...talk to me like that."
"Stop being childish and tell me what is wrong then!"
He practically ran to me his pupils now completely covering his eyes, they looked like crows eyes,
"What's wrong? Have you heard yourself? I think it would be pretty fucking obvious what the problem was!"
I knew I should have backed down but I just couldn't. I knew the colour change of his eyes should make me afraid but it didn't.
"From what I can grasp from this situation is you're a complete asshole, with a fucked up brother and a fucking hybrid baby on the way!"
He growled.
"Say what you want about me and my brother but do not bring our boy into this!"
I should think before I speak but in a rage you say things you would never say in a million years.
"Our boy is part of the problem isn't he? You and David have both said you're only sticking around to see what pops out!"
Morgan put a firm grip on the edge of the table then stared down at the wood.
"Do you honestly think that's all I wanted to stay for? If it was why wouldn't I just leave and come back nine months later? Why would I help you at all?"
"Oh yeah big fucking help! Bringing your psycho brother to my house!"
"I can't control him! I've told him to stay away!"
I sat down because I could feel my little man moving around inside me telling me to calm down. Morgan also sat down at the table. The whole atmosphere calmed down, his eyes turned back into their normal shade of blue.
"Emily look at me."
"I am."
"No look at me properly."
I leaned in to get a closer view of his eyes.
"I stay because I love you. More than I've ever loved anyone, more than I ever thought possible. I'm glad we have this life together and a small family unit. David is jealous and angry that I can feel this way it makes him do crazy things."
"You've been moody every since I told you about that dream. Why?"
He looked as if he wouldn't tell me but then he sighed and looked deeper into my eyes as if he was trying to see the soul within me.
"It wasn't just a dream or nightmare. It was a warning."
"What do you mean?"
"He wants our baby."
With those four words the world felt like it stopped spinning, I should have saw it coming but I was living in my little bubble.
"What do you mean he wants our baby? What does he plan to do with him?"
"I don't know! I wish I did but I can't see into his mind anymore."
"I need to know what he is capable of Morgan. I need to know what I'm coming up against."
He shook his head violently and I put my hands on his shoulders, I couldn't see his past because he wasn't open to my touch but I didn't want to see it I wanted him to tell me. There was three sharp knocks at the door, it caused me to jump and Morgan to grow stiff. I heard Dolly's voice begging for me to let her in, I looked at Morgan and he shook his head again. Dolly had phoned earlier but I knew she wouldn't have gotten here that quickly.
"Dolly I'm busy at the moment."
From the other side of the door I heard whimpering,
"Please Em, please let me in."
"I said I'm busy!"
Then all the noise from the other side stopped. After a few moments the door began shaking violently and David's voice shouted back at me,
"Let me in you fucking bitch!"
I looked at Morgan and he pulled me further away from the door and whispered in my ear,
"He can't get in. I won't let him."
"Are you stopping him?"
"It's called a protection, normally I don't use it but since the last time he came I started protecting the house."
The door was shaking so hard I didn't think the hinges would hold but they did.
"Let me fucking in right now!"
Morgan spoke up,
"What do you want Brother?"
The shaking became less violent but it was still shaking, David started chuckling,
"Oh you're doing this, I thought the bitch was."
"My name is Emily."
Morgan shushed me, he put his hand on my stomach,
"Morgan? Brother? What are you doing?"
He looked into my eyes and said "do you trust me?" As quietly as he could, I nodded.
I heard David growling it was as low as Morgan's but Morgan's was more frightening, more guttural. He sounded as if he was being backed into a corner weakly fighting to survive.
"Oh you son of a bitch! I will be back!"
I watched as the edges of my door blackened. But David was gone.
"What did you do?"
"Turned our boy's energy against him momentarily."
"I don't even want to understand what that means."
We sat on the sofa calming down.
"Morgan please tell me what he is after."
"Okay."
