Harry slipped his arm around my shoulders and squeezed as we walked down the boardwalk, it was so pretty out here. The sun was out and the clouds floated across the blue sky. My left hand was grasping Harry's which was on my shoulder as he pulled me softly over and kissed my cheek.

I giggled lightly at the gesture, "Now that's like music to my ears" he said. I grinned sheepishly at his compliment. Grabbing both of his hands, I stood in front of him. "So where's our first date?" I asked, wiggling my eye brows suggestively.

"About that" he started, my smile faded at his tone. It sounded sad and remorseful. "I hope you're okay with a masquerade ball?" he said, voice becoming jovial again.

"A what?" I said even though I knew exactly what he was talking about. "A masquerade ball. I've been invited to one by..." he paused but then waved his hand. "I don't know who, I just know that each member who is a benefactor is required to bring a date for the dance"

I grinned, of all the places, a masquerade ball was something I had dreamed off for my whole life. "I'll give you the money for your dress babe, but Lilah is going to have to help you pick it out" I jumped up and down, "That's going to be so much fun!" I relented in a squeal. "When is it?" I asked, still smiling broadly.

"Tonight" I gaped at him, "I've got to get going then, I need to get home!" Harry laughed as he turned around. He set off running toward the car, pulling me behind him.

"Harry and you are like the perfect couple. I'm serious. You're going to get married and have little blonde and green eyed babies, or blue eyed and brown haired babies. Either one would be adorable. He's taking you to a masquerade ball, could it get any more sexy? Wait. He could take you camping on a private trip, that would be so romantic!" Lilah was babbling on and on, I just wish she'd stop talking already.

"Lilah!" I screamed, she glanced over at me with a sheepish look like she just realized that she needed to breath. "Sorry" she said with a nervous laugh, I nodded and continued shifting through the dresses. They were all gorgeous and the assortment of colors astounded me but none of them were the dress.

"Well, there's nothing here" I announced as Lilah ended her rack at the same time I ended mine. "Agreed" she replied. "Next store?" she inquired to me. I glanced at my phone, it was 12:45 now, I had time for maybe 1 more store. "Yeah" I said before we departed.

"This thing says that we should go up and around the corner up here" Lilah said, gesturing to the street up ahead. "But this side street leads right down the side quicker, look it even has a couple of stores" I nodded, "Short-cut it is then"

As we strolled down the street I noticed it really was actually cute in here, it was quaint and all the people seemed nice enough. I was a few steps ahead of Lilah, but I looked to my right and stopped dead in my tracks. In the window of a small store was a beautiful, teal, floor length gown.

"Lilah" I said, just underneath my breath "That's it"

"Oh my god, Ariella!" she squealed, "It's perfect! Com'on you've got to try it on!" she yelled, grabbing my arm and pushing the door open with a ding. She straightened her back, and got her 'I'm-speaking-to-an-adult face and tone. "Hello ma'am" she chirped at the women behind the desk, when she looked up from her cosmopolitan magazine her warm chocolate eyes lit up.

"Well Hella Dahlin'!" She said, voice thick with a southern accent. "What can I help y'all with?" "My friend here is going to a masquerade ball and she'd like to try on that dress in your window" Lilah replied, voice warm and smooth like honey.

"I thought I'd neva get anyone to try that there dress" She said as she stood up; I took the opportunity to size her up, she had brown hair that was cut in the cutest little fashion. She was a bit heavy but it fit her well, she seemed the type of woman who could make you a loaf of corn bread that'd have you meltin in your seat.

"Is it for you?" she asked, looking at me with those brownie eyes. "Yes, Ma'am" I said with a smile. "Now you must have quite the boyfriend to me taking you to a masquerade ball" she continued as she unlaced corset style back off the dress.

I smiled as Harry's face flashed in my head, I got to call that handsome man, my boyfriend. "What's his name, honey?" she questioned, glancing up at me every so often. "Harry Styles" I relented, this old women couldn't do any damage with the information anyway.

"Isn't that the boy from that band... This Direction or something?" I laughed, "One Direction and yes" she smiled at me, a toothy smile that made you want to pull her into your arms. She reached up and pinched my cheek, "If he treats ya right hun, don't let em go"

Once Pearl, I came to learn this was her name, got the dress off the rack, she sent me into the dressing room to get it on. It was such a confusing and intricate contraption that it made me think of a research paper I had written on Leonardo Da Vinci's inventions.

The moment I walked out of the dressing room, she was behind me, lacing the back up to where it became hard to breathe. "Ahright dahlin, call your friend over" "Lilah!" I hollered, she had agreed with Pearl that she would wait until I had it on to see it. "Oh my goodness Ariella! You look gorgeous!" she gushed, I had to resist the urge to jump up and down. I wanted to see it!

"She's tellin the truth honey, you look like a piece a fruit that boy doesn't dare to pass up" I smiled at her innuendo, she had a way with words, I'd give her that. "You're getting it, love" Lilah said with a smile that was filled with adoring. "Let me at least see it first" I said with a laugh as I picked up the sides with both hands to walk over to the mirror.

I stared in awe at myself, the dress was perfect and complimented my looks. The top of it was dark teal silk with black velvet flowers at my left hip and just under my breasts. There was a bit of silver embroidery around each flower before it rippled downward into gorgeous heavy layers of teal silk, at the bottom their was a piece of black lace that came out. The fact that it was strapless accenuated my flawless tan and also made my boobs, or lack their of, seem more substantual.

Without a second thought I picked up my purse and handed Lilah Harry's credit card, "Buy the dress"
