Kia's POV
A week has already passed since the day Andrew came home. I started going back to school two days back because exams were almost here and I couldn't miss more days. I'm not completely alright, health-wise though. Andrew has given up on trying to talk to me because...

*Flashback*

I felt bad seeing the hurt Andrew was going through because of all this. I didn't regret my decision because it was for his own good. But I decided that i will unblock his number and that's exactly what i did the next day. I even knew that if I don't give him a reason for all this sooner or later, it will drive him even more crazy. I can't tell him the real reason though. So i came up with another reason. I'm sure he will hate me after listening to it but at least in that way he will move on from all this.

I texted him this: "Andrew i know all of this is hurting you but I'm sorry i had my reasons. I owe you the reason so here it is, Andrew being completely honest our friendship is having a negative impact on my life. The problem is not in you but it is in us being together. We are not meant to be friends. I'm sorry once again. Andrew for the friendship we shared i have one last request and i hope you will give me this. Please  leave all this and make new friends, don't let this be a hurdle. After this I don't have anything left to talk anymore."

With a heavy heart i pressed "send". Sorry Andrew i say to myself and a tear makes its way down my cheek and onto my phone screen. I so miss him. I look on my bedside where a photo frame lay which had a picture of us. (A/n the cover of the chapter is the one) I took that in my hand and hugged it tightly, hoping that somehow this photo frame will be replaced by Andrew.

I waited and waited but didn't get his reply.

*end of flashback*

A few weeks later:

Today was the day of my last exam. I hadn't made any plans so i went home after school. My other friends were hanging out and when they informed me about the plan a few days back, i politely declined it. I had to tell Susan the reason too. She wouldn't leave me otherwise. But i couldn't tell her the truth either. I did not want to involve either Andrew or Susan in my mess. So the safest thing i could do was tell her a part of the real reason. She understood why i did what i did. She just could not understand the extent of my situation and i preferred it that way. 

When i reached home, i found it empty. Stacy left a note saying that she has extra classes and then she will be hanging out with Eric later. Also she told me to eat. Typical Stacy! Well I didn't want to be alone at home. Frankly exams had kept me busy all these days but know that they were over, i knew the memories would come back. I planned on having a movie marathon with Stacy...never mind, maybe we can watch one when she comes back.

I wanted to go away from everything for a while so i thought it best to go to the park. There is one which is 15 minutes from my home but it would be crowded so instead i thought about the one which was an hour from my home would be perfect, since it was always kind of isolated. I changed into a sweater top and sweatpants and wrote a note for Stacy informing her that I won't be home till dinner time. I thought to call her but then decided against it as she might be in class.

When i reached the park it was 4:00 and there was just a couple there who were leaving. I went and sat down under a tree. I could feel myself relaxing under the shade of the tree, with the wind blowing softly. It was calm all around giving a very peaceful feeling. I had bought a book with me as well, "Me Before You". I opened my book and within a few seconds got lost in it. When i was halfway through the third chapter, i felt someone's presence. I looked up and was a little surprised to see the person in front of me. For a minute or two, we just kept looking at each other.

I finally spoke up. "Hey Jaden. Quite a long time!"

He comes close to the tree and greets me, "Hi Kia, yes really long." He gives a small nod and smiles.

I close my book and put it aside and tell him to sit down. He sits beside me under the tree. It is awkward at first as we haven't spoken from really long. For all those who don't exactly remember, Jaden is kind of my childhood friend. We became friends as our sisters were best friends before a misunderstanding broke their friendship 5 years back. What it was I don't know. That was when Jaden and I stopped talking much. We would occasionally interact on social media.

Kia: "How have you been?"

Jaden:" I was good i guess, how about you?"

Kia:" I too was good i guess."

"How come you are here?" We both happen to ask at the same time. We burst out laughing at that and that's how the awkwardness just vanished.

Jaden: "Well i come here often, to be alone for sometime."

Kia:" I like it here, I don't come here much though, but I definitely would if it would have been closer to home."

We fall into an easy conversation about how our lives are going. He even mentions about the time he saw me at the bowling alley when i went with Stacy and Eric. I didn't know he was there too! I kind of missed our friendship because we were so good friends and without any fight or anything between us, a drift had come in our friendship. Soon enough it starts getting dark and I thought it would be best to head home as it was an hour drive back.

I get up and tell Jaden that i have to leave. He too was leaving so we walked out of the park together. He walks me to my car and just before i get in i tell him "I had a great time today, Jaden just like the old times."

Jaden:" I had a great time as well Kia. Maybe we can get back to being friends what say?"

Kia:" Yes i think that's a nice idea because anyways 5 years have gone by."

With that we exchange our numbers and go our respective ways.

Life never fails to surprise you. I think to myself. On one hand, i lost a friend whom i never thought i would and on the other hand i got back a friend whom i never thought I'll talk or get to meet again.
