________Chapter 6
Gina let me stay home from school for a week once i left the hospital, thankfully. But unfortunately that week was over and I had to go back to school today.
"Good morning Leah." Gina says as I examine the bruise on my head that still hasn't gone away in the mirror.
"Morning." I mumble a reply.
"Are you ready to go back to school?" She asks while handing me a plate of eggs.
"Sure." Lie. I really am not. I've been so out of it for past week. I haven't left Cam's room at all. Much like Cam has't left my side once.
I take a few bites of the eggs Gina made for me. They were pretty good but I wasn't hungry, so I set them down and grabbed my bag.
"I better go." I say looking at my phone.
"I'll drive you." Cameron says and I actually consider punching him. Like I said he hasn't left me alone. And although I appreciate his effort I'm starting too get annoyed. So a shake my head and continue to the door.
"I think i'll just board there." I say while opening the door. "I haven't long boarded in a while. Can I borrow one of yours?"
"Sure. I can board with you." Cameron says and I look at Gina with a pleading look that says 'Help me'
"Actually Cameron I need your help here. Go ahead Leah I'll see you later?" Gina says saving me.
"Yeah. Bye Cam, Bye Gina." I say before leaving. I grab one of Cam's long boards before starting my ride to school. After plugging in my earbuds I start playing 'Breakeven' by the Script, one of my favorite songs.

(Hayes's POV)
I sat down in my usual seat in math class, the seat next to me remained empty, Leah's seat. She's been gone for 3 weeks now, she doesn't answer my texts or anything.
We had fallen way behind on our project, of course, but there wasn't much I can do about that. So I continued to sit alone and work on anything I could. I hope Leah's back soon because I'm getting really worried. i mean sure I don't really know her but we're friends now, well I think we are.
"Hi." A small voice says from behind me. I turn around and Leah stood there looking down with her hood pulled up.
"Leah!" I smile and pull out her chair for her to sit down. "Your back, I was starting to think you died." I joke but she doesn't laugh. I watch her set down her books before sitting down also. "So where were you?"
"Sick." She says quietly while taping her fingers on the table.
"For three weeks? Dang what were you sick with?" I ask. She shrugs and pulls out her pen and notebook. I decide to drop the subject since she obviously doesn't want to talk about it. "We have a lot of work to do on the project"
"I figured." She sighs.
Mr. Skibba walks in closing the door behind him. "Good Morning students." He says while looking at all of us. His eyes trail over to me and Leah and stop on Leah.
"It's good to see your back, Leah." He says and everyone turns to look at her. She scoots down in her seat trying to hide. "But could you please put down your hood."
I watched her reach for her hood before hesitating to pull it down.
"Leah, just take your hood down, please." Mr Skibba says again, obviously starting to get annoyed.
She pulls her hood down quickly before looking down at the desk. I look around too see people staring at her with there mouths slightly open. But it wasn't until she turned to look at me that I noticed a rather big and painful looking bruise.
"Leah." I whispered as Mr. Skibba started teaching. "What happened to your head?" I asked. My eyes kept wandering over to the black and blue part of her head. What ever had happened must have been really painful.
"I- uh... tripped?" She said more like a question than answer. But I didn't push it since I could tell she didn't want to talk about that either. So I just nodded before looking back at Mr. Skibba.
_______________
After class I had planned on talking to Leah again, but she had disappeared into the crowd as soon as the bell rang. So instead I walked to my locker to find my social studies book. As I put my math book away I felt a small tap on my shoulder followed by a few giggles.
"Hi Hayes." Sophie said once I turned around. The reset of her group laughed at nothing and waved at me.
"Hey." I said smiling back at her.
"So do you have any plans this Friday?" She asked while twirling her hair and batting her eyelashes.
I shrugged, "Probably not. Why?"
"Well my parents are out of town, and so me and the girls are throwing a huge party. You coming?" She asked and bent down a bit, for no reason really, because i'm taller than her.
"Can I bring a friend?" I asked.
"Of course, silly!" She said while laughing. It wasn't even funny. "Everyone is invited so bring as many friends as you want!"
"Okay, sure i'll come."
"I'll text you the deeds." Sophie said before walking off in her freaking 5 inch heels.
After she leaves Matt, one of my best friends, steps in front of me.
"Hey man." He says while giving me a 'Bro Hug' "I see Sophie has moved on to you." He nudges me in the side.
"What are you talking about?" I roll my eyes.
"Oh you know the way she's all over you." He says winking. I however keep a blank face. "Oh Hayes, you're so strong and handsome" He says in a girly high pitched voice making me laugh. "Will you come to my party? Maybe then I can get laid again."
"Don't be gross man." I say with a disgusted face.
"Well it's kinds hard not too when she walks around like that." Matt says with a smirk on his face.
"Now what are you talking about?" I asked sighing.
"Oh come on, you know the way she walks around with that much cleavage showing and her skirt pulled up so high you can see her whole ass?"
"Again, don't be gross." I say and close my locker.
"Sorry but damn that girl is hot!" Matt yells flailing his arms around. "Have you never noticed this?"
"Nope. I don't believe in things like that, I don't look for that shit in a girl." I shrug and he face palms.
"Well your loss." he says.
"Whatever, are you going to her party?" I ask changing the subject.
"Probably, do you think Nash and the boys are going?" He says as we start walking too our next class.
Although Matt is in Nash's group he's still one of my best friends. He's the youngest in the group, making him in my grade.
"I don't know. She is a junior with us, so he might not go, but if the other guys go he will probably tag along." I shrug not really caring.
I reach my next class and tell Matt I'll see him later.
