Jackson.

I decided to let Yue be, her mind visibly racing at the encounter between her and Jeongguk, but not before I bandaged her bleeding and broken wrist in the back of the bar. I set her on the counter, pulling an aid kit from underneath, as she directed me to it. And although she refused to look at me, I knew that her beautiful eyes glistened over with tears.

"Jackson?" She whispered, her thick lips shaking with my name. I wanted to pull her into my chest. I wanted more than anything just to finally run my fingers through her messy hair again and hold her until she was no longer sad, but I knew that I couldn't. Things were difficult right now for her, and I'd only make it worse. "Thank you."

I nodded. I hated seeing her like this, but what I hated more, was seeing the bite marks that laid upon the white skin of her mutilated wrist. My mind would wonder to the idea of the younger boy feeding from her, it made my stomach turn. "You are welcome." I finished taping the wrap, letting my fingers linger a little too long on her soft arm, sending chills down my spine.

That night, she secluded herself to her room, crying loudly behind those lonely walls. Leo was gone. Nobody knew where he'd gone. I found it selfish of him. It was none of my business, but what my princess was going through ripped me to pieces, and her brother wasn't even there to help her threw the rough times.

"Should I go comfort her?" Hoseok and I were outside, perched up in the tall oaks of the yard, waiting for Hyuk to get set up.

"No, Jackson. What would that help?" He said, his words rough but holding a truth that wouldn't have came from anyone but him.

Nothing. It would help nothing except to soothe my heart, like it did earlier in the day, or that night she had been calling my name out in her slumber. But being so close to her made me miss her even more. Touching her made my heart ache worse. My feelings remained as if I never had abandoned her.

Her cries continued throughout the silence, only crickets and cicadas in the distance. "Ready." Hyuk's deep voice purred. The game plan replayed in my head.

Hoseok would jump down from the tall oaks, being laid out by Hyuk, and as the boy cheered, celebrating his victory, I'd pounce, pulling him to the ground and taking him out quicker than what he'd be able to register. The issue with him was that there was only one of him, and he didn't use his senses enough to be any use to himself.

Yue's brother glanced at me, and I saw the glint in his ember eyes before he fell from the leaves, lunging towards Hyuk. He was on the ground in seconds, and just as planned, the boy shouted, smiling in his own confidence.

My body hit the ground quietly, my feet moving me towards the new blooded vampyre with such a speed that I found to be unlike me. But when I hit him, my mind grew black and I didn't go by the plan, because when he fell, my body was thrown on top of him, hissing and growling with a new found anger. A new found rage. I hated him.

My sharpened teeth bore into his neck almost instantly, ripping a chunk of bleeding flesh from his throat, feeding off of the scream he made. His eyes shone silver, and when his fist made contact with my chest, throwing me from him, a laugh billowed from my mouth.

Hyuk ran towards me, and the smell of his blood filled the air. Vampyre blood had no appeal, and he was a sick bastard to feed from Yue like it was nothing. His cold fingers gripped the width of my neck, sqeezing tight, but my years of fighting and living the way I did had it's advantages.

I twisted his body backwards with an ease that only came with centuries of being undead, exposing the side of his throat I hadn't torn out. My fangs buried into him in a quick nip, leaving two marks, like the ones that he had scarred Yue's beautiful neck with. The same with each of his wrists, marks were forcibly bitten into each one. He'd pay for being a coward. He'd pay for feeding from her and making her sick with worry. And he'd pay even more if she ended up like Areum.
