Hyuk laid sprawled out on my living room couch that night after our walk. A quick run to his house and about six or seven filled duffle bags later, he snored softly in which I presumed to possibly be his last human sleep he'd receive. Leo and I welcomed him in with open arms, telling him make himself at home, so naturally Hyuk's shirt was flung to the ground and his skinny body was wrapped tightly in a few of my thick blankets. My mind raced a million miles a minute, refusing to let any type of rest consume me, my gaze just laid on him, unwavering as each minute passed.
It was hours before the soft light that peered through the drawn curtains carried his sleep away, his brown eyes fluttering open slowly. "Good morning." I mumbled shyly, trying to pretend I hadn't just watched him toss and turn for six hours straight.
His thick arms stretched above him, a low groan rising from his chest before he slumped back against the sofa. "Hey." His voice was lower than normal, exhaustion still evident in his tone.
"Uh, do you want breakfast?" My housewarming skills rested at an all time low, though I pushed them to surface for Hyuk's sake. His purple hair was ruffled and his eyes squinted slightly at my offer before he chuckled softly.
"Yes, please."
A sigh pressed itself from my lips as I stared into the basically empty fridge. Aside from various brands and strengths of alcohol packed within the shelves, it was bare. Vampyres hardly ever ate human food, and when we did it was only to surpass the burning hunger for blood.
I felt Hyuk's presence before he even spoke, the sounds of his breathing and the pulse of his veins grew louder. "Would you like to go out for breakfast? I forgot we don't have anything." I said, my body spinning around to face him.
Hyuk was fully dressed now, his hair brushed and pushed to the side. A smile slipped it's way onto his face before he agreed, his shoulders shrugging lightly. He was so innocent, and I still felt the pain of guilt building inside of me for the trouble I caused.
With that, Leo, Hyuk, and I made our way to a small diner only a few miles astray from the house. "Your eyes are beautiful. Are they contacts?" A waitress asked both Leo and I as we sat down across from Hyuk, she took notice to our eyes that glowed silver instantly. Most people did.
"Yes. I'll have a water please." Leo's words seemed harsh as he threw her question away, but she pushed it aside. Hyuk grinned at the lady, ordering both his food and drink simultaneously. She nodded slightly, her fingers scribbling down on a pad of paper before she gaze towards me.
"And you, ma'am?"
"Jack and coke please." She paused for a second, her thin eyebrows bunching up slightly.
She giggled a bit. "Are you sure? It's only ten."
I nodded, reassuring her. My tolerance skyrocketed with my altered DNA to the point to where I personally, could run a tap dry with very little effect, and with the stress of what today's plans were giving me, the idea of a whole keg didn't even faze me.
The lady left, scurrying off to get our orders. Hyuk's eyes burned into me before his throat cleared. "Yue, will it hurt?"
He meant the change. "Yes, Hyuk.." My voice trailed silent. I couldn't lie to him, my head flashing back to the riveting pain of my transition. A pain I couldn't forget.
"What was yours like?" His innocent face glossed with fear, making my heart sink.
***
"Yue, it'll be okay, I promise." Hoseok's hand grazed my forehead slightly before planting a small peck to it. I laid there, strapped to my bed, Leo next to me.
