Addie woke up a couple hours later to a deserted common room. Rubbing her eyes, she yawned and walked down to the great hall hoping that it was still open for lunch. Seeing that it was, she walked toward the Gryffindor table and to her older brothers.
"Hey Fred. Hey George."
"Hey sis," they said together.
"Harry said that you were tired so you didn't go to Minnie's class," George said.
"Yeah," Fred added. "You never skip classes unless you have a reason."
"I was tired. There's my reason. It's been a really long two weeks you know."
"I know," they say together...again.
"Avery and Melissa are worried. You know they have Transfiguration with you."
"Yeah I know. I'll go talk to them." Addie stood up to walk to the Slytherin table.
"Wait! Eat something first."
"No Freddie. I'm fine."
"Addie."
"George. Really. I'm not hungry."
And with that, she rushed to the Slytherin table. Seeing Avery's red hair, she walked to her and slid into the empty seat next to her.
"Hey Avery."
"Addie!! Why weren't you in Transfiguration?"
"I was tired." Melissa, who was sitting next to Avery, raised her eyebrows sceptically. "Really guys. That's all."
"Okay."
"Rora and Mione told me about what you said down at the lake weeks ago."
"When?"
"Weeks ago."
"No, no. When did she tell you?"
"Oh. Today in class."
"Oh."
"What made you say that?"
"I was possessed. The day before I got to my common room without knowing how I got there. And I got to the Lake without knowing how and I just had blocks where I couldn't remember anything."
"And..."
"And I thought people were angry at me because I was cranky and I guess just not myself."
"And..."
"And what? There's nothing else to talk about."
"Okay," Avery said in a goofy voice and rolling her eyes playfully.
"Just know that you can always count on us. Okay?"
Addie nods and sighs picking up a bagel. She stands up and heads back to the Gryffindor table, but this time she sits next to Hermione and Aurora.
"Hey."
"Hey Addie," they said at the same time.
"I'm tired."
"You're always tired," Aurora said laughing.
"You're not helping. I really am tired."
"I know," Hermione said sympathetically. "You need to rest more."
It's true. Ever since Addie had been possessed by Voldemort, she hasn't been the same. She was more distant, she has nightmares every night, she sleeps much lighter, and she wakes up at every single sound...even if it's in the boys' dorms.
"I want to sleep. I really do but until I find out how and why I got possessed, I don't think I can sleep." She sighs. "I just feel like he's always there. That he's always watching me." Addie unintentionally ran her hand over the scar on her neck.
