"What? What do you mean?" Dev asked.
Ezra's head cleared and he snapped back into reality. "What? Nothing."
He saw no reason to tell Dev about Kanan being his father. There was likely a reason Dev hadn't known his father was alive, and Kanan had likely wanted to keep it that way. Kanan had kept it a secret from him too, so Ezra saw no reason to even care. Just another reason I left the rebels. Who knows what other secrets the crew has been keeping from me.
"Okay then," Dev said, clearly confused. "Come on. We have a small hideout you can stay in with us."

A week later:
Ezra stared at the Labata-class shuttle through his microbinoculars. "Looks like a good ship. No weapons though," he said, checking his readings. "It is a diplomatic shuttle."'
"As long as it can fly," Dev replied. The other boy activated his comlink and held it up to his mouth. "Loth 2, all set?"
"Roger that," Mel's voice came back. "Let's blow this place."
Dev and Ezra grinned at each other. "Copy that." Dev said and put his comlink away. He grabbed his blaster and tossed Ezra one. "Here. I meant to ask, where's your lightsaber? I saw it on the Holonet."
"It's a long story," Ezra replied. "But I don't have it."
"Okay. That's not the best, but we'll do. At least you've got the Force—and your blaster."
"For sure."
A loud explosion reached their ears and they looked down from the top of a roof to the Imperial shipyard, only to see a colourful explosion light up the place, leaving only the shuttle they were planning to steal untouched. Nice job Mel.
Sabine would love that. The thought slipped into his head before he realized it, as all the colours of the explosion created art. Stop it. It's been 5 weeks already. Forget about them.
"Go!" Dev whispered to him, before jumping off the roof and into the colourful smoke below. Before he disappeared into the smoke, he did a Force-aided somersault before plummeting towards the ground.
Ezra took a deep breath. He had never used the Force for anything like this before. And if he didn't use the Force, he'd turn into Jedi jam.... (Oh yeah. Partial Ferus Olin quote right there. Bam. Sorry :) -LRUF)
Deep breath. You can do this. One, two....
"Three!" He shouted and jumped. The air rushed in his ears as he free-fell towards the smoke below. He shut his eyes and reached out with the Force. Time seemed to slow down. He was no longer falling, he was slowly drifting down, like he was on a cloud. The Force is all around me, connecting me....
He landed safely on the ground. "Dev!" He called, looking around. He saw only smoke. "Dev! Mel!"
He ran forward through the smoke, coughing. He made it out of it and collapsed on his knees, coughing hard, panting.
"Hello, young Padawan," came a voice. Ezra looked up and saw a hooded figure all in black. In front of him were the bodies of Dev and Mel. He stood up shakily. In a flash, the blaster was aimed at the figure's head. And set to kill.
"Don't call me that."
"Oh don't worry, they're not dead. Just unconscious. Just like you will be."
That voice... It sounded.... vaguely.... familiar....
He felt it too late. His arms were pinned behind his back and the blaster fell from his hand. The two figures that had dropped from the sky hit him hard on the head. And then everything went black.
Darkness. Again.
