I was fuming with anger. She has stolen my birth right, the guardian. I stood there staring at her, a glare so powerful that she stepped back a little. My hands were glowing white hot. Her eyes glanced down to them but her face remained an unreadable mask. I held my fist up in rage and punched out a fireball. Her eyes widen as it came towards her but even she couldn't move fast enough to avoid it. Then something unexpected happened, my rage evaporated along with the ball of fire. As it did I was thrown back by the sudden activation of the Sight. Her aura was astounding or what I saw was. First was the Blessing. A magical gift woven into your very being, design to protect and help her in every way possible. It was said to be a gift of the gods. A myth, a legend, impossible. After landing hard on my rump, the Black Chameleon was on me with a knife at my throat.

The second thing in her aura that amazed me was her personality itself. It was so honorable, courageous, fearless, cunning, agile, and quick for one with such a dark background. My eyes stared into hers . She was pretty for a thief. I held her gaze almost losing myself into the blues of her eyes. "Look Mr. Gabriel's friend or whatever you were to each other, I only wanted the map." her voice was smooth, even, and commanded with authority. "I don't get why your so angry about that statue" She drew back standing, she looked relaxed but I knew she would be ready to spring to action if I tried anything. I stood and composed myself then said

"That statue is an ancient Guardian, one of five in existence. This one has been protecting my family for over 300 years. Now it no longer belongs to me." I looked at her with an accusing glare. "Because you decided to freaking touch it!" I shouted. Her face didn't change but I could sense a slim smile underneath. She tossed her long black hair back and redid her pony tail that came undone in the fray.

"So is that why you were following me. To give me a guardian" she mocked and laughed a solid crude "Ha!" before sheathing her knife. "Undo the stupid spell thing or whatever is on the guardian. If it's so important to you." I looked at her and stated flatly "That would require killing you" she made a face as if to think about it.

"Nope, sorry, I got a job. After it I'll be set for life" she made an apologetic shrug as if wishing she would die if she could but won't. My anger started to fade. I strangely I started feeling grateful for the statue becoming hers'. True it has been in my family forever but I really could feel less about it. It was only a link to my grandpa nothing more. I have no use for it. The guardian in statue form was sitting between us facing to my left. I picked it up and handed it to her. She had a surprised look on her face as I did so. Then just as quick, her face was one of suspicion. "What's the catch?" She eyed me closely. I heard the stories, I could not lie to her. I shrugged and said

"I obviously can't kill you, for magic seems to not even ail you and you are far more skilled in fighting than I." I gestured to the two guys she took out. Still she watched me knowing there still was a catch. "Plus I would like to go on this "job" with you and spilt the reward." her lip curled in distain. Apparently sharing didn't agree with her. Switching to diplomat mode, I began to argue how helpful I was. "I wouldn't be a problem, I brought my own supplies" I patted my side satchel as I said this. "And I have many skills" I said this with a mischievous smile as I made near by stones whirl in a circle around me. She stifled a yawn as I pushed forward. "I only want a small amount from the reward, not even half if I heard correctly. I only need 300,000 gold shillings to pay for my debt." She stared at me weighing the positives and negatives. I held my breath.

"Okay you can come but" she warned " You have to do what I say, alright?"

"Deal" I stuck out my hand so we could shake on it. She grasped it and gripped it hard. Releasing it she turned to her horse that she "liberated" and then called back to me.

"Your going to need a mount"

"I already have that covered" I replied and pulled out of my satchel a broom. The satchel was a Hollow, it had an infinite amount of space inside. I saddled the broom and floated next to her. For a moment I thought I saw her jaw drop but if so, it didn't last long. I looked at her while she checked the straps and placed the guardian in one of the saddle bags. Despite losing the idol, I knew she didn't really mean to take it.... Maybe. Still judging by first encounters I rather be friends than enemies. " Where to?" I asked.

"Out of the city of Ria and into the Ever Changing Forest. Yah!" she kicked her horse and galloped out of the alley and down the road leading out of town to the west. Smiling I leaned forward and raced my broom to catch up. We reached a bridge that crossed over the rapids of river Eeray. The bridge was massive, made for large traffic entering and exiting the city. Naturally it's gates were locked after dark and the keeper was asleep in his cabin only ten feet away to the right. The Black Chameleon was already down picking the lock. I hovered upside down above her.

"You know I never got your real name" I stated with an inquiring tone. She glanced at me for a moment, with a look as she tried to figure out whether or not to give her true name or a fake one.

"Onyx" she said "Onyx Kawh" she finished picking the lock and stood "And you?" she gestured "Mr. Blueboy" she smiled slyly. Ignoring the comment I thought it was only fair to tell her.

"Piscar Elementum" I sniffed in offense, by now I was right side up standing watching the gate house. Onyx began opening the gate. The hinges creaked as she slowly pushed the heavy metal.

"C'mon and help me!" I turned and jogged next to her and started pushing. The whole bridge and gate itself is made of iron and metal. They stood a good story tall.

"Hang on, stand back" She stopped and stepped away. The door swings inward over the bridge. The gate was grated so I couldn't blow it open easily. I'm going to have to use a kinetic spell to move it. "Oscailte!"  (open) my eyes flashed purple as they always do when performing non-elemental spells. I was so glad I was fluent in the language of magic, for one missed pronounce word could ruin everything. The gate's doors flung open with tremendous force. Creaking and dangling so loud the sound was defending. Onyx rode right pass me through the gates.

"C'mon! we have to leave! Hurry!" She shouted over hers shoulders. I quickly bent down to pick up my broom a green energy ball flew just over my head.

     "Oh!" I yelled in surprised

"Yow, Stop!" The gate keeper had woken up and seemed very peeved that someone would mess with his bridge. I thought to myself you gnomes always seem to be angry. Then he threw another energy ball at me. I shouted

"Leirionn!" (relfect) bouncing off my arm guarding my face the green energy ball bounced back at him. Hitting him square in the chest. I hopped on my broom and pushed the gates shut with a simple "Gar!" (close) Onyx was on the other side patiently waiting.

"Done playing?" She asked dryly. I shrugged to her.

"For now" I grinned and we then set off into the forest.
