"Piscar! Control yourself!" Ordered Gabriel in a rather harsh manner. He then continued in a grumble "Do you want to burn the whole house down?" he wasn't expecting an answer as he zapped the flames into his hands.
"I'm sorry Grandfather" I said with great embarrassment . Then I said to defend myself "But all I can think about is how you keep dodging my questions about my mother's identity. My father is dead and she might be the only family I have and person I can trust. Except for you of course" Gabriel looked rather guilty as he looked at me, he sighed heavily and all he could think of saying was
"Your mother will reveal herself to you when you are ready to know, for now her identity will stay a secret." I slumped my shoulders in defeat, I was an odd looking boy. My hair is as red as flames and seemed to stick up like them too. I have green eyes that shimmered and sparkled like emeralds, though these features are not what make me so odd and awkward. No, the feature that makes me so odd could not be seen in poor lighting but in daylight my skin has a tint of blue in it and. Besides with these features I look like an average sixteen year old, tall and gangly. Standing in front of my grandfather's desk I crossed my arms and my face expressed just how deeply frustrated I was.
"When will the time be right?" I said rather rudely in annoyance.
"When your ready" groaned the grumpy grandfather. He then continued with a sigh "Now please go to your room and practice your fire spells." As a last thought he added "here" he bent down and opened a desk drawer pulling out a book covered in scorch marks. "Take this fire proof copy of the basics" He handed the book to me and was about to continue on with work when he realized that I had not yet left. "You may leave now I have important business to attend to" He stroked a black statue of a tiger as he said this. It was his guardian, an enchanted spirit rock that protects it's owner until death. Gabriel then pulled out a stack of papers and what looked to be an ancient map. Knowing it was important and that my grandfather dismissed me, I bowed in respect to my elder and then left the room.
As I walked down the dark hall my hair lighting the way for me I mumbled to myself "I don't understand why he trains me so hard, I'm not even that good. The nerve of him training me to become a multi-element wizard, most wizards with my potential only specialize in one element. If I knew anything about my family I'd know what element to focus on" I sighed as I entered my room and then I began to play with fire.
Meanwhile Gabriel hunched over the ancient map with great concentration. The map was old, wrinkled, and yellowed by age but it was still an important map. "A map of the whole kingdom" Gabriel mused "Where could you lead?" He asked the map not expecting an answer, because Gabriel even though he had the map, didn't know of the map's importance. This map was meant to be protected and hidden from others but Gabriel didn't know that. He now stood over the map and as he restored it, retracing it's lines with fresh black ink. "Now where is my atlas?" He asked himself his eyes scanning the room and then he found it on the bookshelf, which was full of all kinds of books. He beckoned it with his pointer finger, making the atlas float out of the shelf and towards him.
"Ah here we go" he said as he rubbed his hands together in anticipation "Let's get a cracking" He said to himself, with that Gabriel and I worked into the night and around midnight neither of us knowing the other was awake. I fell asleep sometime early in the morning, using my books as pillows. While I was asleep Gabriel was stroking his Guardian and heading off to bed. Little did we know that in the dark a figure waited outside on the roof with the stone gargoyles, patiently waiting to claim what she had came for.
