Bonjour! I'm Jazz (DreamSeeker10779) and I have the pleasure of interviewing some of the brilliant authors behind fan fictions on Tokyo Ghoul. This time round I had the pleasure of interviewing Ashida Tsukimiya. This brilliant girl is the writer behind the fan fiction, 'Within His Protection', which won the first place award in the Tokyo Ghoul Wattys in February this year.
So, here we go!
Jazz: Question #1 is which season of Tokyo Ghoul is your favourite and why?
Ashida: My favorite season of Tokyo Ghoul is season 2 because it shows how much Kaneki wanted to get stronger and protect those who are important to him. It was also a tear jerker because he placed his life on the line just to save the people dear to him and I was so moved because he had to go through many torments for his people.
Jazz: Season 2 was defiantly a tear jerker and I 100% agree with your answer. The next question is are there any particular shippings you like in the series?
Ashida: I have shippings! Well, almost everybody has. But, I love TouKen the most. Touka shows the tsundere type but, she clearly cares for Kaneki, right? And they're really close and it's obvious that they show concern for each other!! It almost feels as if they're bound to have a mutual relationship.
Jazz: TouKen does seem to be one of the favourite shippings. Question 3. Are there any Doves in which you like?
Ashida: Oh, I love Suzuya Juuzou! Juuzou is one of my favorite characters! From my perspective, he isn't a bad person. If he was brought up in a good way, I'm sure he will be very sweet, caring and thoughtful person. You can see how he acts towards Shinohara, right? He treasures him! Also, being that psychotic kid who seem to have fun in everything is badass. :3
Jazz: I love Juuzou too! He is actually my favourite character. Lucky question number 4 is when you write, what gives you inspiration in creating character relation developments?
Ashida: When I write, the inspiration comes from my crush and my imaginations. (Lol) I do have fantasies which I would like to experience one day with the one I love someday. Although I haven't experienced any of it! Haha! But, I'm hoping that I could get there soon. Haha!
Jazz: interesting answer. So how does it feel to have readers comment, vote and show appreciate for your writing?
Ashida: It feels very pleasant and it makes my heart flutter. It gives me bliss because I never expected anyone to notice my works! 😊 Due to their support, it makes me wanna do better and work harder!
Jazz: That is most certainly true. If you could meet any two characters from the series, who would you pick? That's question number 6
Ashida: First, I would love to meet Kaneki. I want to hear him speak of his pain, stories and his feelings. And, I also wanna be his support, considering his huge amount of sufferings. The second one is, Eto because she is soooo mysterious that I wanna know more about her. She has a lot going on in her life and that's really interesting, I guess.
Jazz: Kaneki would most certainly be one of the most interesting characters to meet. I personally would meet Juuzou and Uta. They are my top 2. Next is question number 7, which is the following; You have the chance to talk to Sui Ishida, the writer of Tokyo Ghoul. What are some of the questions you might ask?
Ashida: The questions would probably be, "Why did you choose to write a tragic story instead of a happy one or a romantic one?" And also, "Why did you pick Ghouls to become the main topic of your story?"
Jazz: Those would be some awesome questions to get answers too. #8 Care to share a favourite quote from the manga or anime?
Ashida: "The world runs on power. Everything is determined by the superior power. You are weak and that's why, you lose." -Kirishima Ayato
Jazz: That is a very powerful quote. Next up is question 9. Any friendly advice for fellow Tokyo ghoul fanfic writers?
Ashida: For advice, I would like to say, work hard if you want a good story that is. People say, not everything can be done by hard work. But to counter that, "Nothing is impossible" is the right quote. And don't forget to thank Ishida Sui for creating such a wonderful story of our beloved Kaneki.
Jazz: Well said indeed. As a fellow writer, I have to agree with you on that advice. Now the final question is as followed. Has Tokyo Ghoul made you cry or get emotional?
Ashida: Yes, totally. The very scene where Kaneki was being tortured made me cry. And, the utterly heart breaking scene where he surrendered with Hide in his arms made me devastated.
Jazz: Oh my gosh. That final scene when Kaneki carries Hide out, I near...nope I did cry as it was heartbreaking. I could never do that. Well, thank you for letting me interview you!
Ashida: No problem! Thanks for the interview!
That was Ashida Tsukimiya who was interviewed and I thank her for her time. Good Luck with your writing!
Well, that's it from me! Enjoy the rest of the magazine!
