Chapter 5 - Alex

~The following day~ (At sunset)

"So, what do you think about staying with us?" I asked Amy intently.

We were sitting at the table in the kitchen, the whole group was there.

"It's ok." She answered getting quieter towards the end of the sentence.

"Amy, I know it's weird for you, but, I want you to pay attention to what we tell you at all times." I said, making sure she hears what I say.

"OK I GET IT!" She shouted, banging her fist on the table.

We all looked at her, our faces surprised.

"Sorry, I just felt pressured." She said, after our reactions.

"It's, fine." I said breathlessly.

I knew Amy was sad, but acting like this? She was barely eight, and I don't think she's going through puberty yet.

"I'm done, I'm going upstairs." She said standing up and going upstairs.

"What did you do Haley?" I said looking at her.

"NOTHING!" She answered waving her hands.

"Nothing?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"Well, I kinda told asked her many questions, and I uh, think she didn't like them." Haley answered massaging her neck.

"I'm going to talk to her." I sighed going upstairs.

"Amy?" I asked unsurely, knocking on her room door.

"Come in." She said in an angry tone.

I entered to see Amy sitting on her bed, looking out the window.

"Amy, what's wrong?" I asked sitting next to her.

"I-it's just that....It's not FAIR OK!" She said hugging me and crying.

"I know, life isn't fair sometimes." I said.

"Yeah, I-I know, but why THIS?! Why not a flood, o-or an earthquake! But why something that will probably NEVER end!" She said.

Amy was right, why, out of all things, did it have to be a zombie apocalypse?

Suddenly, I heard gunshots outside.

"What the fuck was that?" Amy said looking up.

"Hey." I said looking down at her.

"Sorry, but I can say whatever I want." She said sticking out her tongue.

"Hide." I said looking around, then I remembered that there was a hidden closet in every room.

I looked at the wall where I placed the secret closet, and I got a key from under Amy's mattress.

"What are you doing?" Amy whispered.

"Hush." I replied as I unlocked the secret door.

"What?" Amy said sounding shocked.

"Be quiet and get in." I said sternly.

"Ok,ok." She whispered as she got in.

The closet was pretty small, but the both of us could fit.

I closed the door with my hand, and I left the door slightly open, which meant there would be a small crack, but it was really small, that I wouldn't be able to see it.

"Find them!" I heard a girl shout out.

Heard many footsteps walking, and door opening, I hope the guys were ok.

"I know you guys are in here!" I heard the girl voice said, then I remembered what Ben told me, about us having two days to give in to this Queen Alyson.

"Yeah, you guys are REALLY good at hiding!" I heard her voice boom.

"What are we going to do?" Amy asked.

"Hush!" I whispered sternly.

I heard footsteps coming up the stairs, and doors opening.

We were so quiet, that we couldn't hear ourselves breathing, then, a soldier, like the ones that I fought came in.

I felt my heart skip a beat when a soldier was looking our way, but then he said, "Nothing here Queen Alyson!"

When he left, I let out a faint sigh of relief.

Then I heard Queen Alyson remark, "So, they're not here, well, let's give them a small surprise when they come back, gentlemen, bring out the cannons!" Oh no...

"They're going to demolish the place!" Amy whispered with a hint of nervousness.

"I know, when we hear-" I got cut off when I heard a big boom coming from the entrance of the house.

"Let's get out of here!" I said grabbing Amy and getting out of the closet.

"Let's get some stuff while we're going." Amy said as we were going downstairs.

"I got some guns and two backpacks, and bows.

When I knew we had enough stuff, I got ahold of Amy, and we went to the back door, not the front.

We got out and headed toward the forest.

"What about everyone else!" Amy exclaimed as we were running.

"Don't worry! We'll find them." I said nervously.

"What if they're dead?" Amy said as we stopped.

"I didn't hear any screaming as we left, I think they're ok." I said, hoping it was true.

"True." She answered sitting on the grass.

"Let's rest, we'll be back there tomorrow at dawn." I suggested sitting next to her.

"Sounds good to me." She said, placing her head on my lap.

I saw the stars coming out of the dim sky, hearing loud booms being heard from a distance

I sighed and said, "Oh guys, you'd better be ok."

Sorry if I haven't updated in like, FOREVER!

But I was busy, and I was thinking of The Minecraft Hunger Games instead.
