I pace back and forth, my legs softly aching at the amount of repeated walking.

"We'll find her, don't worry." Jerome reassures me.

"How? She just, ran away without a particular reason whatsoever." I respond abruptly.

"I know right? Kind of stupid if you ask me." Makayla adds as she took a bite from a dark red apple.

"Why are you so nervous, huh? I should be the one that's scared for her, I'm her boyfriend for god's sake." Jason says as he glares at me.

"We all are scared for her." Adam mutters.

"Exactly Jason, quit acting as if you're the only man in the world who looks out for her, we are here too, you know." I say, wishing that I could take it back.

Jason's eyes narrow as he points at me, "What are you implying?"

"He's not implying anything, right, Mitch?" Jerome interrupts as he grits his teeth.

"You know what, I am implying something!" I exclaim, my muscles tensing in anger. "Maybe you're not the only one with feelings for her."

"Oh boy." Ty mutters under his breath shakily.

"Guys, this is stupid, can't we all just-" Makayla was cut off by Jason and I exclaiming, "Not now Makayla!" in unison, making her eyes widen in surprise.

"You're both being immature! Can you just stop it right there!" Jerome growls as he gets in between us.

"Oh no I'm not stopping." I begin, "If it weren't for Alex's bipolar actions, then maybe she'd be better off with me! Don't you see the way she looks at me, Jason? Damn, she'd melt into my arms if she could!"

At a loss for word, Jason bit his lip in frustration, so I continued, "Oh boy, you have no idea how close she got to me when I get injured. I swear, if I was still conscious, I would have gone in for the kill and kissed her right at the spot."

"Oh! You think she's so clean don't you?" Jason finally snarled. "If only you weren't so deaf you could've heard her yelling out my-"

"SHUT UP!" Adam, Jerome, and Ty scream in unison, making everything quiet.

"Do you guys not hear that?" Adam whispers, making me alert.

"What do you mean?" Jason mutters in annoyance.

His answer was then answered once I hear loud growling in the distance and screaming. My eyes widen, "Do you think. . . ?"

Then, everyone went into action.

Adam and Jerome tried to get a better view at what was going on, and being curious and nervous, I follow them, hoping that it wasn't Alex screaming in the distance.

We then stop once we realize what was going on, wasn't just an ordinary pack of zombies.

It was the biggest wave of zombies, I have ever seen to date.

Ty's eyes widen as he backs up, "F-Fuck, run! To the entrance of the base!"

Adam and Ty then run away, leaving me in the dust, full of curiosity of whoever was out there.

"Fuck, sorry Alex." I mutter as I turn back and run after them with a terrible aching in my chest.

As I run, the entrance slowly opens, and Makayla crawls into the base as she runs down the stairs.

Jason then helped Adam and Ty enter as they look back at me.

Jason then got a look of surprise on his face, "Wait, is that, Star?"

Confused, I turn around and stop in my tracks, realizing that Star really was running at towards us, her knees bleeding and her lip cut while holding her arm.

"Star! Hurry!" Makayla shrieks as Star tries picking up her pace.

She then makes it to us, her breathing quick and shaky.

I look at her and out my hands on her shoulders, "Star, you have to have come across Alex, do you know where she is?"

Her eyes widen and she looks back, "I-I thought, I thought she was behind me!"

I stare at her for a while, until Adam pulled me onto the stairway, making me confused.

I glare at him, "We have to go find her!"

Ty shook his head, "Not now Mitch! And besides, she knows how to-"

He then got cut off by a soft female grunt from where the zombies were coming from.

I felt all of the air that was once in my lungs leave my body as I turn around and raise my eyebrows in surprise and nervousness.

There she was, Alex, on her knees and hurt, her eyes staring at us in both horror and acceptance.

I see her lips quiver, as she mouths the words, 'I'm sorry.'

She then lowers her head, which nearly made me run after her.

And I swear, I was going to.

But then the doors closed and everything faded to black.

---

My eyes open in surprise, my breath clogged up in my lungs which were begging for fresh air. Beads of swear trickled down my forehead as I feel my hand rubbing on soft fabric from underneath me. "I-It, it was just a dream?" I say shakily as I squeeze my eyes shut.

I was in a dark blue room, on a black bed, and a bandage on my arm. It couldn't have been a dream, it felt so real. . .

"Rise and shine sleeping beauty." Someone says cockily as I felt something soft being thrown on my face.

Annoyed, I look up and see someone none other than Jerome. He looked different, though. He looked like he was wearing clothes specially made for winter hibernation, especially since it made him look thicker. His face was dirtier and his hair was messy. Did I look like this? "J-Jerome, where am I?" I groan as I rub my eyes.

He frowns and walks over to the room's window, and he opens the blinds, blinding my eyesight for a few seconds as I try and adjusting to the light. He then pats my pained shoulder and he sighs,

"Welcome to the apocalypse, my friend."
