Chapter One

(Jonah)

"Nat." I said in a questioning tone.

"So then my sister basically threatened to murder him if he didn't leave." My friend Natalie babbled on without once acknowledging me. it was hard to get her attention when she was telling one of her long winded and exaggerated stories.

"Nat." I said again, and again she ignored me.

"So I'm like, Nea, he was only here to deliver the pizza." she shoved  from her locker into her bag. "Then she went on this rant about how he broke her heart in middle school."

"Natalie!" I exclaimed.

"Anyway, it turns out the poor delivery guy wasn't even who she thought he was." She finished up her story. Then turned to me with annoyance plastered on her face. "What do you want Jonah?"

I crossed my arms over  my chest. "Who were you talking to?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Tamara and Cheryl, obviously..." She said, but her tone switched when she turned and saw the empty space where she thought her friends were. "What the heck! They were just here."

"Well they weren't here when I walked up to you." I pointed out. "Hence why I was trying to get your attention."

"Well that wasn't rude at all." she mumbled sarcastically.

A couple of popular girls laughed at her as they walked by. Natalie didn't seem to notice, but I couldn't help but glare at the.

Natalie had a very bubbly personality. She was often peppy, but could talk for hours without stopping. She could also be quite the drama queen, and was judgemental when you didn't agree with her, but all in all I couldn't complain. If you were upset, she would try and make you feel better and she as one of the few friends I made in  the two years I have been going to this school.

"So are you ready for chemistry?" Nat asked me as we walked to our last class of the day.

"Ready to get it over with and go home." I replied.

"Hey we got one week down." She said positively.

"Only a million more to go."

"Exaggerate much."

I was extremely glad that my first week of school this year was over. I desperately wished it was still summer, and I didn't have to suffer by going there everyday. I use to like going  to school or at least, I didn't mind it, but then we came here, and that quickly changed.

"Okay!" My chemistry teacher tried to get everyone's attention. "Start writing down the notes on the board."

The class made an audible  groan but proceeded to copy what was written on the white board. After a few minutes of writing chemical formulae, I saw through the corner of my eye, that Natalie as staring at m pencil case. "Would you like a pencil?" I asked.

She smiled innocently. "Yes please"

I rolled my eyes and handed her one. "You need to start bringing your own."

"Mr. Kershaw, Ms. Ryan!" Our teacher said loud enough for everyone to hear. "If you have something to say, please share it with the whole class."

The entire looked over at us. Kill me now. I thought  and sunk down in my seat. As if it would help. Of course we weren't the only ones talking, but the teachers just decided to call attention to us.

Some girls started laughing at us. They were the same ones that laughed at Nat earlier. If they were laughing at me, I didn't think I would be able to handle it well, but Natalie simply smiled and ignored them.
