Chapter 11: Christmas

Today was Christmas Eve. Well it was already almost time for bed. Me and Chris had just finished getting stuff ready. Emma was setting out cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for his reindeer. You could tell she was excited. It's like she knew something that I didn't. I helped Emma get ready for bed. First I had to give her a bubble bath. She loved playing with bubbles. The bathtub was filled with bubbles. Emma scooped up bubbles into her small hands and blew them making them fall into the warm bath water. Chris stepped into the bathroom and laughed at the bubble beard Emma had. "My girls" Chris said chuckling as he bent down and pulled me into a hug. Emma took a handful of bubbles and rubbed them onto Chris's beard. I had to laugh.
"You got a bubble beard" I said laughing as Chris grabbed a towel and rubbed the bubbles off his face. After Emma's bath she put on her footsie pjs and stepped onto the stool in the bathroom to brush her teeth. I put her wet hair into a bun with a smile. She spit into the sink before smiling at herself in the mirror. I picked her up and carried her to the guest bedroom. I laid her down in the bed and tucked her in.
"Mommy?" Emma asked.
"Hmmm?" I asked smiling.
"Can you sing to me?" She asked as she hugged her Winnie the Pooh toy.
"Sure sweetie" I said as I started thinking of a song I could sing to her.

After I finished, Emma was fast asleep. I couldn't help but smile as I gave her a kiss on the forehead before turning off the bedside lamp. I tip toed to the door and slowly left the room. I walked to the bedroom and got changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt. Chris wore sweatpants and a tank top that showed off his muscles. Including his abs. Holy cow his abs are hot. I jumped onto Chris making him groan loudly. I couldn't help but laugh. I kissed his cheek and slowly went down to his neck. He hummed a little bit and as I found my way back to his lips.
"I love you" I said against his lips making him smile.
"I love you too" he said before flipping me off of him so he was on top. I couldn't help but smile when I rolled over and he kissed my shoulder and then up my neck. A shiver went down my spin as he rolled me back over and buried his face in the crook of my neck. His beard tickling my neck.
"You're beard tickles my neck" I said laughing as he rubbed his face on my neck to tickle me.
"Oh does it now, Riley!" He said laughing loudly.
"I hate you" I said.
"I love you too" he said before rolling off of me. I cuddled up next to him. He was so warm. I buried my head in his chest and soon fell asleep.

"WAKE UP!" Emma sang as she hit me and Chris in the face with a pillow.
"I'm up!" Chris said sitting up. His hair was all messy and he looked tired. I fixed his hair with a smile before climbing out of bed. We all went downstairs. Chris carried Emma downstairs. The Christmas tree had many presents at the bottom of the tree. I couldn't help but smile when Emma gasped with excitement. Chris put her down and she ran towards the tree and started opening things. I sat down beside Chris on the couch.
"Hey Embug can you give your mom that tiny box?" Chris asked as Emma picked up a small box. She handed it to me.
"Oh Chris! You didn't have to get me anything" I said as I started to unwrap it. It looked like a box to hold jewelry. Maybe a ring. Did he get me that ring I've always wanted at the old jewelry store down the street?! I opened the box and nearly screamed. It was beautiful. I covered my mouth with shock. Then I realized what it was. It was a wedding ring. I looked over and Chris to see that he was down on one knee.
"Riley Annabelle Matthews, I've known you ever since we were in kindergarten. I've had a crush on you ever since then. But what I'm asking is: will you marry me?" Chris asked as tears formed in my eyes.
"YES! Yes you meatball!" I said tackling him and Emma ran over and jumped on top of me while I was on top of Chris. I couldn't help but laugh. Chris put the ring on my finger with a smile. I smashed my lips gently onto his and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I love you Riley" he said breaking the kiss.
"I love you too Dorito" I said smiling. This was amazing.
After opening presents we headed to Alice's for dinner and then we'd be heading to Lisa's. As soon as David opened the door, Emma ran inside. I was wearing a navy sweater, dark jeans, and brown boots. My hair was curled. Chris was wearing a red flannel shirt and dark jeans with light brown boots. We walked inside and Emily ran over grabbed my hand and stared at the wedding ring.
"OMG!" She squealed, "Emma told us that Chris popped a question. Alice lost it."
"RILEY! Let me see!" Alice said rushing over and looking at the diamond, "it's so pretty!"
"Where is the lovely couple?" asked a voice I was way to familiar with.
"GT!" I said hugging my grandfather.
"Hey Sweetheart" he said hugging me back.
"Grandpa Thomas! It's great to see you" Chris said hugging him as well. Wade walked over and grabbed my hand looking at the ring.
"OMG!" He said in a girly voice making me laugh, "that is so pretty!" We walked into the living room and I held Kyle or Dylan post of the time. They were so cute. Emma played with Madison and Jayden the whole time. Chris sat beside me and loved up Dylan.
After we left Alice's house, we went over to Chris's mom's house. I ran inside and hugged Scott. "Scott? Guess what?" I asked smiling widely.
"What?" He asked raising his eyebrow at me. I held up my hand and showed him the diamond ring. He gasped with excitement and ran over to Chris tackling him in a hug.
"Let me see!" Shana said running over with Carly behind her. They both looked at the ring with excitement.
"It's about time" Lisa said slapping Chris's arm making us laugh.
"Ow. Why'd you do that Ma?" Chris asked.
"I've waited so long for you two to get together" Lisa said making me smile.
"Thank you, Lisa" I said. After dinner and opening a few presents, we decided it was time to go home since Emma was about to fall asleep. After a New Years we'd be going back to LA.
