Trey
Liberty and I are seated by an usher near the front of the theater. Since we're a little early, the lights are still on and other people are still coming in. I look around for any familiar faces and I wave to a couple of my co-workers and students.A group of students come by to say hello.
"Is this your girlfriend?" One of the girls ask as they gaze at Liberty in awe and jealousy.
"Well, my fiancée." I correct with a smile.
They smile and say hi to her.
"Hey." Liberty replies back.
"You're very pretty." Another compliments.
I feel Liberty burn red with embarrassment and I chuckle. She's so bashful.
"Thank you. You all are too." She says sweetly.
They laugh girlishly. I stare at them and roll my eyes. All right, it's time to go.
"Show will be starting in five minutes." An usher announces to us.
Thank you Jesus. They girls say goodbye and leave to their seats.
"They seem nice. I don't know why you complain all the time about them." Liberty says as she brushes something off her shirt.
"They probably-"
"Hey!" A strangely familiar voice says, cutting me off.
Liberty and I look to see the weird wannabe photographer from the park coming towards us with a smile on his face. I groan and Liberty nudges me to stop.
"Be nice." She whispers.
"Hey...you." Liberty says awkwardly.
"Hey. I'd never thought that I'd bump into you guys again." He says.
This guy looks like he has no life. White, mid-forties, greying hair.
"It's a small world." I say sarcastically.
"You guys take a look at my page?" He asks.
"Oh yeah." I say without continuing on purpose.
His pics were pretty cool. There's an awkward silence between us.
"Well, if you guys like what you saw, you can contact me and set up an appointment for a photo shoot. I also do weddings, parties, anything." He says.
Man, this dude really wants our service.
Liberty
I lay my head on Trey's shoulder and hold onto his arm as the curtains open and the jazz band begins to play. The photographer says goodbye and leaves us to our mini date. They're really good. Dang. After the show, Trey rushes me out of the theater to avoid the photographer.
"Ugh, slow down, Trey!" I say as Trey drags me through crowds of people.
He ignores me and only slows down once we're close to the car.
"You forgot that I'm pregnant with your child? I can't go that fast." I say as Trey unlocks the car door.
"Sorry, but I didn't feel like bumping into that dude again. He's creepy."
I roll my eyes. Trey is so insecure.
"Shut up, Trey. He's just lonely, as you can see." I reply.
"Well, we not bout to finna keep him company." He says letting his southern accent out a little.
It always comes out when he's stressed or angry. It's real sexy though. He starts the car and we exit the parking lot of the theater. I catch a glimpse of the photographer taking snaps of the crowd and handing out his business card to people.
The ride back home is pleasant as Trey and I talk about the Jazz band performance.
"Sing to me." I ask politely.
Trey pulls into the driveway just then and looks at me. He doesn't say anything as he gets out of the car and comes over to my side.
"Come on." He says while opening the door.
I step out of the car and Trey swoops me off of my feet. He begins to sing,"I'll make love to you," and I scream in laughter. I already knows what this means.
"Trey! No." I say firmly with a smile.
"What are you talking about? You wanted me to sing for you so I am." He says as he unlocks the front door.
He continues to sing as he walks up the stairs with me in his arms. We already know what's finna happen.
