Trey
My mother cuddles Judiah and coos at him. Her first(but not the last) grandchild.

"My grand baby is gonna be strong. Just watch." She says smiling down at Judiah.

Liberty and I look at each other with smirks.

"Is pops coming?" I ask my mother.

"Oh he should be here at any second. I left him so he could park the car." She says while kissing Judiah.

Oh no. Grandma is already getting annoying. Liberty's parents are back in CT and we weren't expecting them till September. They'll be down tomorrow with my homie, Antoine.

"Ma," I say noticing how much she's into Judiah,"Let him breath."

"Oh shut your mouth, Tremaine," she says,"This is my grand baby."

Liberty chuckles and I roll my eyes.

"I can't believe my son is a father." My dad says loudly while walking into the room.

I get up and give him a hug. He throws an arm over my shoulder and walks over to my mother.

"It's my turn, April," he says with his arms out,"Let me see my boy."

My mother looks at my dad with irritation than hands him over. My dad chuckles at the sight of his grandson.

"My oh my," he says,"The day has finally come."

"It was God who kept you and Judiah alive." My mother tells Liberty,"Who knows what could've happened if Tremaine didn't come upstairs."

Liberty nods,"I'm forever grateful."

My mother looks at me in endearment.

"I can't believe you're really a man now, and a father." She says.

"I can't believe it either."

She sighs and picks up the huge brown paper bag.

"Well, you two must be starving so I made a little something." Mom says as she opens up the bag.

Mac and cheese, fried chicken, collard greens, and sweet potato pie. I wink at Liberty as she grins. As Liberty and I eat, my mom fusses over Judiah and Liberty.

"Make sure you make the diaper rash cream. It works so well," my mom says,"I used to make it for Trey because he used to get them all the time."

"Mom, thank you." I say trying to end the conversation.

"Thank you. I still have the recipe." Liberty replies politely.

"April, will you leave the kids alone? They'll figure it out." My dad says coming to our rescue.

"I'm only trying to help, Charles." My mother refutes.

My parents go back and forth, bickering.

"Alrighhhhttttt!" I say,"It's not that serious."

I hate when I have to be the parent. They shut up and my mom turns to Liberty to give more motherly advice. Suddenly, I need some air.

"Babe, I'm gonna get some air. I'll be back in twenty." I say while getting up.

"Don't be gone too long." My father says.

"Yeah. Just some air I need." I say while grabbing my phone.

"Okay." Says Liberty.

I head out of the room and down the quiet maternity corridor. I take an elevator down to the lobby and walk outside into the hot July air. I find an empty bench right by a bush and take a seat.

"Thank you, Jesus." I say to myself.

Doctors, nurses, and regular folk walk past me. Congratulation texts and notifications continue to come in. The picture of me holding Judiah on Instagram and Facebook explodes with comments. My profile is private but I have plenty of followers.

"Omg! Congratulations!"

"Finally a daddy😍. So happy for you."

"Congratulations on your blessing."

I'll say thank you later. By then, a person has already deciding to take a seat next to me.

"Hi," they say.

I turn to return the greeting, but freeze. Stupid photographer.

"What do you want?" I ask.

"I want to apologize for the incident a couple months back. I meant no harm to you and your girlfriend."

"Fiancée." I correct.

"Fiancée," he says," My name is Owen, and I'm sorry."

I really don't care. He has that stupid camera around his neck. I wonder what kind of perverted pictures he has on it.

"Well, Owen, I'll accept your apology but that doesn't mean we're friends."

"Of course. I understand. Congratulations on the kid." He says.

How the fxck does he know that?

"I'll call the cops on your ass. Stop stalking me and my girl. I don't know how you found that information out, but you need to cut this shxt out."

Before he could respond, I stand up and walk back into the hospital. I need to stop this.
