Oh where do I begin with Fanfiction?
Random guy: How about the beginning stupid?
*Throws book at guy*
I'll start at the beginning. To be honest I had never heard of Fanfiction until I went through my Lego Movie phase.
There I was, internet browsing anything I could about my new favorite movie (it's not my favorite movie now but it is my favorite animated movie) when I see something that says, Lego Movie Fanfiction
Well that looked inviting. So I tapped the thing and found myself face to face with stories based off a movie about Lego's.
Considering that the Lego Movie is a very lighthearted film that is meant to be funny, I thought that these "Fanfictions" would be like that.
HA!
I discovered that pretty much all Fanfictions, no matter what they were about, usually involved some character getting tortured, beaten, cut, scarred, bruised, bloody, broken, and-
Ok you get the idea.
What made absolutely no sense to me was how people could something like the Lego Movie and turn into an angst fill torture fest.
Since I couldn't find a Lego Movie Fanfic that suited my desire for adventure and comedy, I began to write my own.
In my head.
I took those little Lego guys on many different adventures. I added my own characters, plots, twists, plot twists, you get the idea.
I probably kept that up for about a year before I eventually grew out of it.
And that was the end of Fanfiction for me.
Lolz! Jk.
It wasn't until I watched Lord of the Rings for the first time that I remembered Fanfiction.
At first I ignored the desire to read it. But then I gave in.
I quickly searched it and began to look for a good story. One that involved all the characters going on epic adventures in Middle Earth.
So what did I get?
Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legolas Legola Legolas Legolas Legolas
Yeah. Not good for me.
I eventually settled on a Fanfic that involved Aragorn and Legolas. But then I was reminded that Fanfic author's have some strange epidemic that makes them torture every character they love.
But when they read someone else's where it happens they're all: HOW CAN YOU DO THIS YOU HORRIBLE PERSON!?!?!?
But when they write it's like: PAIN! SUFFERING! MORE PAIN!
Yeah I don't get it.
I mean, I can't stand reading about character getting hurt, but then in my own Fanfics I do the exact same thing.
The weirdest thing is that we read them at all.
But anyway, back to Fanfiction.
Fanfiction was when I really started writing (in my head)
I created all types of scenario's for the charcters, different adventures, but I never had the chance to write them out.
Until I found Wattpad.
Now I write Fanfiction. It's mostly LOTR but eventually I will probably do more.
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who writes Fanfiction when they're trying to go to sleep because I do all the time.
I don't know why but it's fun.
Pretending that someone else's characters are yours is fun.
I've seen a lot of good Fanfictions out there. I've seen a lot of dumb ones. I've seen unfinished ones.
But what intrigues me the most about Fanfiction is that people write it.
People that don't want to see the story end. People that aren't afraid to ask, "What if?"
People that still haven't told anyone that they do write Fanfiction. But in the end, they're all great stories written by great authors.
Except those Mary-Sues.
Those are evil
