Chapter 2: Greek class

Annabeth POV

"Ring!" the bell rang, signifying that our first period lesson was going to start. I grabbed Percy and made him show me the way to our first period venue. No way was I going to be late on my first day.The teacher was already in the classroom when Percy and I dashed in, the Stoll brothers and Katie following behind. Why they were late, I have no idea.

"I'm so sorry, Mr Johnson. Annabeth, Travis, Conner and Katie are new here and I was showing them around, that's why we are late." Percy apologised, making an excuse for the other three at the same time.

"Well, seeing as it's their first day of school, I shall let you off. But only this time!" Mr Johnson said, with a twinkle in his eye.

"Hi Mr Johnson, I'm Annabeth Chase, I just transferred here from San Francisco." I introduced myself, taking my place at an empty seat, just behind Percy.

"I'm Katie Gardner."

"I'm Travis Stoll."

"I'm Conner Stoll."

Seeing that Percy sat next to his mortal friend, I sat next to Katie while the Stolls sat next to each other. I also saw that Thalia sat next to Nico, surprisingly.

"Welcome, you four. Now class, we will be learning more verbs today. Do you know any Greek?" he questioned.

"Well, we are all fluent in Greek, we can read and write it too." I replied.

"Wow, seven fluent students in just one class? The other three were surprising enough! Okay, Katie and Annabeth, since you both are fluent, please come out to the front and have a conversation in Greek so I can assess you both on your level of fluency."Mr Johnson was thoroughly surprised.

I smiled at Katie and we both walked up to the front of the class.

"Έχει περάσει πολύς καιρός από την τελευταία μας δει ο ένας τον άλλο, Κέιτι!" (It's been a long time since we last seen each other, Katie!)

"Ξέρω! Έχω έλειψες τόσο πολύ Ανναμπεθ!" (I know! I've missed you so much Annabeth!)

"Έτσι, πώς θα συμβεί στο στρατόπεδο;" (So, how's it going at camp?)

"Εντάξει, υπάρχουν ορισμένες νέες κατασκηνωτές όμως. Το σκαμπό μου pranked και πάλι! Αυτή τη φορά καταλήξαμε μαζί μου καλύπτονται από ωμά αυγά! Ugh!" (Okay, there are some new campers though. The Stolls pranked me again! This time it ended up with me covered in raw eggs! Ugh!)

"χαχαχα! Έτσι ... εσείς και Travis huh!" (Hahaha! So...you and Travis huh!)

I smirked at this, everyone at camp had seen the chemistry between both of them, except themselves.

"um ναι ... είμαστε το είδος των επίσημων τώρα, υποθέτω." (um yeah...we're kind of official now, I guess)

At this, Katie turned a deep strawberry red, just like the strawberries back at camp, while Travis smirked and blushed. However, anyone could see that he was really happy about him and Katie. Well, it took them 7 years of "hatred" between both of them to finally clear the denial stage. Everyone at camp had been waiting for them to finally get together and now when they did, everyone could see that they were meant to be.

"Πήρε σας αρκετό καιρό huh, Κέιτι!" (Took you long enough huh, Katie)

"Ναι, εντελώς αντίθετα με εσάς και Percy! Τέλος πάντων, είναι κάναμε ακόμα;" (Yeah, totally unlike you and Percy! Anyway, are we done yet?) her voice dripping with total sarcasm.

At this, I looked to Mr Johnson for a response. He was clearly shocked, with his mouth a little agape. No one in the classroom moved for a while, everyone looking at Mr Johnson, waiting for his response. He blinked, shook his head a little, and came back to reality.

"Wow. I'm amazed! You're both so fluent! Even for myself, I had to learn the tongue for 8 years before I was considered fluent. Is there any chance you seven fluent students know each other? Percy, Thalia and Nico are also very fluent, I'm guessing the other two as well. Where did you all learn Greek?" Mr Johnson exclaimed.

"Yes, we all know each other. Um, our ancestors were Greek, so we learnt it from young." I replied.

"Yeah, Greek is like our first tongue and English is our second." Katie added

"I see. I am truly surprised." Mr Johnson shot all of us a smile.

Just then, the bell rang, signalling the end of this period. Mr Johnson dismissed us immediately.
