AVERY'S HIDDEN MEMORY

All her victims were drained. Not even a single drop of blood left in those dead vampires. She was satisfied. Eight vampires killed in one night. She couldn't waste them all. She walked slowly from those bodies and headed back to the main street. By sunrise, they were all going to be burn into ashes and scattered into the air.

It was time to wander around in the street until the day time. The boy was already with Avery. But he was injured. He gave his blood to Reese as his gratitude for helping him. What a foolish thing to do. Humans are all like that, too easy to trust, too easy to manipulate.

There was no such thing as good vampires. Just because Reese had the same principle like Avery, it didn't mean that he was just the same. What was Azzim thinking? Did he really think that Reese would be in debt for the blood he gave him? She snorted.

But there was something intriguing about Reese too. That blond vampire had a past that was a mysterious as Azzim's. It didn't matter how interesting or fascinating his past to her, she was not going to care. Was Azzim intrigued with him too until he was willing to give his blood voluntarily to Reese?

And why was that she felt comfortable when she was with Azzim? She wasn't herself when Azzim was next to her. And why did she felt like she wanted to protect him as much as Avery wanted to make sure he was saved from any harm? And why was it when Azzim was gone, she was back to her normal state?

Maybe she could try to hurt the boy the next time they met. It wasn't that hard. She wanted to see how Avery would react to that. Avery had gone soft this time knowing that Azzim broke his promise from seeing her once again. And why couldn't Avery read Azzim's mind was not a problem for her. He really thought that she had anything to do with it?

She could go to Avery's place now to do it. She could kill those two newborn vampires who had become Avery's protégés easily. She could torture Avery by cutting Azzim's skin. That could be as painful as Avery watching it. She really loved seeing Avery looking defenseless for not able doing anything.

No, the boy must not be hurt at all. He was a victim in this mess just like she was, she told herself. Why would she hurt him when she knew that he was planning to move out from this town? But where would he go? That kid had no money to go anywhere. He was stuck in this place.

But why would it matter to her? It was completely none of her business. Who was he to her and who was he to Avery, a son? That would never happen. Saving some other innocent soul couldn't make up all the past he did to Ginger.

She stopped thinking about it abruptly as her nose, her eyes and her sense detected another presence of a vampire. This one was a female. Ginger straight away noticed that this was the vampire who caused the chaos in this town. She seemed to be so strong for a night walker.

But this one could not read her mind so Ginger assumed that this vampire was just the same like the vampires she killed before. She sensed excitement from the unseen vampire. Ginger was just as excited. If the creature failed to impress her, Ginger had no doubt in killing her.

"Just show yourself!" Ginger declared. "I have no time playing hide and seek!"

A female vampire with the same red hair appeared in front of Ginger. Her hair was as long and curly as Ginger. They could be sisters with some distant resemblance, but her eyes were violet. Within a second, they both stared and smiled menacingly to each other. Ginger couldn't help to wonder if the violet eyes vampire was a cannibal vampire just like her. But her skin was pale. It was a sign that she never went out of the sun.

"What do you want?" Ginger asked, hiding her curiosity on the look-alike.

"I have heard of you from my breed. I was told that you are strong!"
