THE PAST

Avery came out of the car looking very alarmed. He was checking on Azzim as though he was a baby. Obviously Avery was being protected towards on him. There was no doubt that he sensed Ginger's presence with Azzim at that time.

"Did she hurt you?" He asked. Both of his hands were on Azzim's face.

"No, I'm alright." Azzim replied flatly.

"Get inside, come on." He said hastily.

Azzim followed Avery's instruction. He wasn't bothered to ask the vampire his whereabouts while he was in the club. The things that Ginger told him just now hit him really hard. He avoided Avery's face. He wasn't interested in having a conversation at the moment.

"Sorry, I was taking my stuff to your house. I hope you won't mind that I'm planning to stay with you. I know I should consult with you about this, but this is the best protection that I could offer you."

Azzim wasn't responding to him.

"Since you're being so stubborn to move out, I'll stay with you. And guess what? We're housemates now~hey, I'm talking to you! Are you listening? Azzim, what did Ginger do to you?"

Azzim was so angry with Avery that he actually swore under his breath. But the swearing was so clear and Avery stopped his car immediately.

"Did you swear at me, boy?" Avery raised his voice.

"I'm not your boy, Avery!" Azzim raised his voice too.

"Are you mad at me because I left you in that club? Hey, I know that I owe you for giving me your blood, but I would never leave you unprotected!" Avery said in a controlled voice.

"Because you knew Ginger won't hurt me, don't you? She's not the bad guy after all!"

"What did she say?"

"I'm tired and I just want to go home," Azzim said quietly. He came to his senses that he was being childish a few seconds ago.

Avery started the car engine once again. He didn't want to argue with Azzim either. But he had issue and maybe it was best if they talk about it at home. He could read the Azzim's mind right now. But his patience was tested and it was not easy to keep cool dealing the boy's tantrum.

"Okay, tell me what exactly the problem is!" Avery asked once Azzim slammed the door on his back.

Azzim launched himself on the couch, sulking. He didn't even to know where to begin. He felt betrayed and was really angry about it.

"You can tell me or I'll use my ability to read your mind!" The tone of Avery's voice sounded like a threat.

"Do it then, I'm not in the mood of talking right now!" He replied without even looking on Avery's face.

"I won't. That is not right. I'll never use my power against you."

"Why, is it because you feel that you owe me?"

"Don't set that tone on me, I'm asking you nicely~"

"SHUT UP!" Azzim bellowed.

Azzim had no idea when exactly Avery came so close and put his fingers onto his neck. Avery was angry. His fangs came out and his eyes were electric blue once again. It was as though Avery was ready to kill.

"Don't forget who I am!" Avery said in a deep voice.

"Go ahead, go ahead... Kill me. You should've had done it on the day you attacked me!" Azzim provoked the vampire.
