Chapter 16: A Date and A Cover

Niall grinned as he knocked on Lauren's door. He was wearing a white oxford shirt with a black tie around his neck, black slacks, and black dress shoes. He had yellow roses in his hands.

Lauren opened the door and smiled. Her hair was still up in a bun and she looked to be in the middle of getting dressed. "Hey," Lauren said with an apologetic smile. "I wasn't sure what time you were going to pick me up and I lost track of the time. I was on the phone with Sammy. Sorry." Niall laughed.

"That's all right. Take all the time you need." Niall smiled.

"Thanks, but go ahead, come on in." Lauren stood back by the door and ushered Niall in. He looked around her grand house as she shut the door. It was quite a lovely home. "You can take a look around while I finish getting changed, alright?" Niall nodded. Her house was gorgeous.

"Sure thing, wow. Nice house." Lauren chuckled as she started up the stairs.

"Thanks, I think it's a bit much, but whatever." Niall looked back at her and shrugged. "Oh and don't worry, my parents are out with some of my dad's coworkers tonight so you don't have to worry about running into them." Niall nodded again.

"Alright."

"Well I'll go change then." Lauren smiled and darted up the stairs. She would have felt embarrassed for answering the door with her hair up in a messy bun wearing an oversized sweater and leggings if it was anyone but Niall.

Upon entering her room she made her way to her closet and settled on a black long sleeved dress. She paired it with black heels and a simple silver necklace. After changing she made her way to her mirror and finished her makeup. Then she took her hair out of the bun and applied some product to it before calling it good. She smiled at her appearance. She actually looked fairly put together. On her way out she spritzed herself with her favorite perfume and made her way down the stairs.

As Lauren changed Niall drifted around her house, poking his head in every door way. The house was actually pretty massive, which for some reason surprised Niall. He had been there earlier in the week, but only briefly. He hadn't really realized how big it was then because he had been ushered to the kitchen and then upstairs and that was about it. Now that he was left alone to wander around and explore he discovered just how huge it was.

After wandering down a hall past the living room Niall came upon a closed door. At first he told himself not to open it because that would be snooping, but his curiosity got the best of him. He opened the door and turned on the light. He surveyed the room and smiled. It was a music room. He never knew that Lauren had a music room.

Not being able to help himself he stepped in the room that held a piano and a few guitars up against the wall. He chuckled as he looked at the walls that housed two One Direction posters among others from other bands. Niall went over to the wall and picked up each guitar and admired it before making his way over to the piano. He ran his hand along the soft wood and sat down at the bench. He folded up the cover and lightly touched the ivory keys. He stared at it with a smile on his face and then played a few notes.

"There you are, Niall." Lauren's voice startled him. He looked over at Lauren who was standing in the door way with a grin. "I see you have found the Champion household music room." She laughed as she came over to him.

"You never told me that you had a music room." Lauren shrugged. "How come?"

"I don't know, it just didn't seem that interesting."

"Not interesting?" Niall scoffed. "So I already know you can sing, which you tried to deny, does that mean you play?" Lauren reluctantly cracked a smile. "Lauren! How could you hold this from me! You lied! Remember when we first me you said you weren't all that musical! Then what is this?"
