"Some people are worth melting for."

-Olaf (Frozen)

Riley's POV

<<<<>>>>

There are approximately 1,013,900 words in English language but none of them could explain how much I wanted to hit Lily on the face with a chair.

She kept looking at me with those innocent eyes, expecting me to like her 'gift'. When she finally got to know from my deadly stare that I hated it, she spilled the beans.

"I didn't do it purposely. Violet told me to give this to you. She bribed me saying she'll get me a new lizard if I do this. Believe me Iiley! I even bought you a box of chocolates. It's there in your room if you check."

I looked behind and there she was, suppressing her laughter with both her hands. She took a few steps behind and then the tom and jerry chase began. I grabbed the nearest thing available to me, which were carrots. I'll never know how they got there but Violet surely got to know how hard they hit.

I dodged all the things that came my way. Perks of being in the school dodge ball team. By the time Hazel came out of her room to scream at us, we were so not done. I chased her through the living room when Violet decided to end it for good.

"For the love of god, spare me you wild cat." She said while jumping on the sofa like it was a hurdle which she failed miserably. I found her lying on the floor screaming that her hip bone fractured. It didn't. Hyperbole had always been her favourite figure of speech.

I couldn't control a giggle.

After cleaning and setting everything up, all of us sang Christmas carols for fun (Zohac was just mumbling), played two rounds of the game of Life, binged on chocolate chip cookies and opened our gifts. Hazel gave me a golden coloured cardigan which was so cosy that I instantly wrapped it around myself. Lily gave me a sunflower (that was very sweet of her) and her box of chocolates. Violet gave me a book of 101 grandma tales.

Seriously?

"What? I thought this gift would last a lifetime. See, when you have your own kids (she mouthed 'with my cousin') you can read it to them, then after you your kids can use it. I'm pretty smart." She said proudly.

"Ahh...great!!" I fake smiled.

There was only one gift left- Zohac's. I was about to open it when Violet suggested that we go for a walk, just to take a look at the decorations in the neighbourhood. Lily preferred to stay at home, hoping to catch Santa putting gifts in her stockings. Hazel wanted to go to bed early so it ended up being just three of us wearing our best warm clothes and stepping out.

"Isn't it surprising that it hasn't snowed here yet?" Zohac asked.

"Weather here is totally unpredictable. We're lucky it isn't raining." Violet pulled her beanie until it covered her ears. I exhaled air from my mouth and smoky vapours came out. Then I sneezed.

"Bless you." Zohac wished.

"Riley, are you sure you don't want to go back inside?" Violet asked.

"I think I'm fine. Anyways, it's not everyday that we do this." I said, looking at the multicoloured lights and Christmas trees as we walked past houses.
