"He does something to me, that boy. Every time. It's his only detriment. He steps on my heart. He makes me cry."
-The Book Thief
Zohac's POV
It had been three days since I'd returned from Boston but somehow it felt like I was there just hours before. I could still hear her slight yet cute snore when I saw her the for the last time before leaving on Christmas morning. Of course, I didn't want to leave. I got one chance to spend Christmas like a normal person but those Japanese had to screw it up. At least the meeting went quite well. They were definitely impressed with our interior design structures and accommodation facilities. They signed the contract, which means we have to start working on the project soon. In no time, I'll be so extremely busy that my presence will be needed at every single place but Manhattan- which is exactly what I need right now. I have to stay away from every place that can remotely remind me of her. I let out a sigh and shift unsteadily on my office chair. Abigail enters clumsily while balancing my Starbucks in a hand and today's agenda in other.
"Here it is sir. Caramel Frappe as you like it. "
"Thank you. Did you schedule my flights yet?"
"No Sir, I was just about to do it now." She said confidently. The reason I hired Abigail was the honestly that reflected from her face. I know she'll never lie to me. I also know that she hates it that I'm fattening myself with these caramel frappes every day. It's not like I can help it. "Also, Sir...are you sure you don't want me to bring your regular Black coffee?"
"Yes Abigail. I'm sure. You can go now."
I rest on my chair sipping the heavenly frappe. I couldn't take it out of my mind since I saw Riley pouring it all over Amanda. Next thing I knew, a pissed Abigail went back to Starbucks to get it.
"Sir. Sorry for the disturbance" The intercom buzzed. "But Ms Amanda Richards is waiting outside. She was trying to get in from the past fifteen minutes but we didn't let her as per your instructions. She insists on seeing you once before leaving." God, what is her problem? Couldn't she get the hint that I don't want to be with her?
"Let her in." I say in my brief voice.
Three minutes later, an unsurprisingly perky Amanda entered my office in the same slutty red dress which I almost tore off her a few weeks ago. She gives a seductive smile and sits on the one of the chairs in a position from where she's sure I can see absolutely everything.
"Hey baby." She leans towards the desk in order to show off her disgusting perfume which always burns my nose hair.
"Don't call me that." I say curtly.
"What happened? I really thought you missed me. Come on! You don't have to hide it from me sweetie. Everybody knows we are so in love. Then why stay apart from each other? I really want this to work Zohac." She points a finger at my chest and slightly feels it. "You and me."
"You know what? I didn't even miss you for a second. And when did I ever say that I love you? You know I don't do love. You knew it before you entered into this formality of a relationship. Infact I think I was blind. It took me too much time to realise that all you'll ever be is an insulting, dim-witted slut."
She intensely stares at me for a few seconds which makes me wonder if I was too harsh. Then she starts shedding her crocodile tears which ruin her 6273527 coats of make-up.
"This is all for that Bimbo, isn't it? You broke up with me for her. So now you're interested in little nerds, Zohac? Can she even satisfy you in bed?" I actually would've bought her act if she didn't open her mouth. She starts laughing.
